Anime DVD sets

Post by Anime Jedi » Fri Dec 12, 2003 8:22 pm

I was just wondering if you could tell me the difference between these two sets of DVDS?

some bootleg crap - mod

and

Silly question, I know, but it's worth asking. Yes, there's a different amount of DVDs and the art is different, but is the actual anime any different? And what about the voice acting?

The 3-DVD set = HongKong Bootleg

Here's a hint: If it seems too cheap to be legal, then it is.

Hmm...the cheaper one says it has a Chinese track. Maybe that has something to do with it. (Different release and such) also, does one say it has 23 episodes? My box set has 26 :? I suggest you read those over VERY carefully.

8 DVD's to hold just 26 episodes!?

*fires up her bitrate calculator*

You could fit 4 eps (25mins) on each DVD and STILL have room for 20mins (aprox) more video without going below the maximum bitrate! It'd be no stretch to fit the series onto 6 DVDs, 5 if you drop the bitrate by 1mbps. GAWD, it's flabberghasting!

So the other one was a Chinese bootleg? Ok, that makes more sense. I knew it had to be something like that, but I was starting to get a little curious. It supposedly still had the same English dubbed voices as the original, but the main differences I saw were the region coding, and the amount of DVDs.

I try not to worry too much about how many episodes are on each DVD. I know mst anime series have 2 to 4 episodes each, but the anime "Street Fighter 2V" had about 8 episodes per DVD, and was still quite good. I try and hold that as an example whenever I can.

But anyways, thanks. 3 DVD set = cheap Chinese bootleg. Makes sense. ^_^

Were those single, or double sided disks?

Causes, if someone was putting 8 eps on a single sided disk that'd be approaching the 'subpar' level of video quality. :/
