what is it with xvid?

Post by Brainwhacker » Fri Dec 12, 2003 5:32 pm

i love the codec personally...

but why does it keep effin' up in premiere? if i have a source file that i use, say for the benifit of the doubt i ripped some anime from a DVD into xvid.

i open it in premiere, and all these shit ass pixellation errors in the video appear.

am i screwing up somewhere? is there a plugin to fix this?

any input at all is appreciated.

laterz.

Because you shouldn't be using a codec like XVID to make source material in, you should be using either a lossless codec, the original VOB files, or some sort of intraframe-only compression codec.

see, the thing is thought, that i can't open any other codecs 'sides divx and xvid, or even mpg inside of premiere.

i tried it with .ogm and matroska. no dice.

should i be looking for a different video editing prog?

OGM and Matroska are not codecs, they're containers.
And if Premiere isn't working for you then there's something wrong with either it, or you.

I would recommend reading through the guides in my sig to learn about how video actually works so you'll have a better understanding of what exactly you're trying to do.

This man is a filthy lier. Just convert the Divx, Xvid or what ever in Vdub to something like HufYUV, then load the HufYUV avi's into Premier and bingo bango. :)

Then you still wind up with the problem of crappy source, as you've gone through recompressions, and also according to the site rules you are not supposed to use downloaded footage to make AMVs here. Keep that in mind.

No body said anything about downloading material. We speak ONLY of codecs. :) Plausable denyability. Conversion of the source video to something lossless like HufYUV is his best bet to make the machine do what he wants it to do. Excuse me if I'm more concerned about letting people get to play with video then where their source material comes from.

Last I checked, the side was called 'AnimeMusicVideos.org' not 'InternetEthicsVideos.org'.
