I've had sufficent experiance in moderating anime comunities online to understand the percentage of posers. A lot of people lie online. In one place, we moderators could see user names, but general users saw only character names. We lurked, watching two people talking about lesbian type stuff, how they chatten in JUST panties, and eventually slipped off to private messages for Cyber sex. (I hate it when chats get used for text based sexClara Yuri Asaki wrote:Listen DJ_Izumi, all the members there who are male have said they are male. And all the members that said they're female, really are female. Ok?

I could cite countless other examples, mostly people lieing about gender, some saying they're japanese when their not. Once even, a 16yo kid from the Canadian Yukon claiming he was 23, in Japan, and a kungfu master. (IP trace, yummy.)
Belive me, many people in anime communities are posers. Lots, and lots, and lots.
