meh ... i've been meaning to watch DB and DBZ just for the sake of knowing wha the hell happened since those were some of the earliest animes i remember seeing.

dbz was the first anime i saw and it seemed really kewl.....when i was in 6th grade --;; then all it was was the same exact thing. a villian comes, the dbz team trains, they confront the villian after about 20 episodes of training (or that's wat it seemed like) then they would spend 30 episodes actually fighting the villian(once again, it just felt like 30 episodes, i doubt it really was). goku or some other member of the dbz team would turn super siayan, either kill the enemy or let them them go since he was such a good guy then they would return to earth until the next enemy came. It had a good plot, but when the storyline becomes so predictable, and the fight scenes all look the same (has anyone else noticed that? all they do is punch at each other in midair so fast that their hands seem like blurs until one gets hit in something, then he stands up and it happens all over again  )
Have your ever noticed that with all their punching, head butting and kicking in the face, not a single one them ever gets a black eye.

As far as DBZ being a starter anime, it wasn't a starter anime for me so I cant really say I can say I understand it being a starter. I saw DB and DBZ back in '92 when it aired on FOX and no one really liked it. As far as plot goes, I think they knew what they were doing. They did the show for teenage boys between 10 and 14 and what a shocker thats what a good majority of the audience is. :?
Mamimi: Takkun may have a big forehead, but he's a real good kid! Please don't hurt him?
Haruko: HE'S HIDING BETWEEN YOUR LEGS!!!
Mamimi:What? But he's a real good boy. He'd never even mention having seen my panties!
Haruko:THEN HE'S GAY!!!

Because the target audience in Japanese wasn't even younger than that, or anything. Way to keep the thread on topic, BTW. Last time I checked, it was a thread to share what anime you were currently watching... not to be a dick and for the 800th time attack people for watching something you don't care for.

Kudos to those who don't give a rat's ass what anyone thinks and watch whatever you want to. Its sentiments like the ones expressed above that give anime fans a bad name.

And with that, I'd like to raise my viewing level of "Shaman King" up to episode 34 :P.

Im only voicing my personal opinion on the anime, nothing more nothing less. Im not telling people to not watch it, just saying that I dont like it (last time I checked a forum is where people voice their opinions :? ). Furthermore I dont care what people watch, nor do I care if they worship it either. What gives anime fans a bad name is when they insult others because of their personal opinions. Like I said before this is a place for personal opinions and insulting someone because of their personal opinion because of your own personal opinion is just bad form.

Back on topic I am also watching Get Backers.

You're calling it "random" and "pointless," yes, which is your opinion... but no-one cares what you think ABOUT it, they just want to know IF you're WATCHING it.

I, for whole, whole-heartedly agree that there is a completely different experience gained by watching the show in its original Japanese format. It's not as different as, say, Macross vs Robotech, but it's still there.

It just saddens me to see you always popping up in threads where someone says they like or are watching DBZ, and for no reason, you go into rants about how so-and-so about the plot is "random" and "pointless" and ultimately verge on belittling people for it.

Who cares? They're enjoying the show, and that's what watching anime is about. You may think you're just expressing your opinion, but there's MORE than subtle hints that you're inferring towards other things in your writing style. This is the Internet; what your INTENTS are and what the PERCEIVED style is... two completely different things. Just be careful.

Woah tons of posts since I made my post on this thread a few hours ago...

One thing I think I have to point out, there is an extremely immense difference between dubbed Dragonball Z and Japanese Dragonball Z. I don't have a problem with anyone liking either, but I only like the latter. I also don't care what anyone's opinion on the show is, but it's ignorant, short-sighted, and false to assume that dubbed DBZ = Japanese DBZ, it's simply not true.
Look at all my trials and tribulations

Don't disturb me now, I can see the answers
'Till this evening is this morning, life is fine.
