Hellsing is Mediocre at best. It hardly had any story, and the plot IDN'T GO ANYWHERE! and to top it all off, the ending was worse than Berserks. It's only redeeming qualities were a few fight scenes.
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

Meh ... you didn't like it, so what. I like it. It's also great ice breaker material to get people who are into action movies and what not into anime.

Unfortunately Hellsing suffered from incomplete source material, and a hurried in "substitute" plot. AS the manga wasn't finished(it still isn't even after 6 volumes) the script writers threw in a sub-plot to "finish" the series off at a nice rounded 13 eps, with possiblilty of continuation (Big O anyone?) I've heard that they want to truly finish Hellsing, but Kouta Hirano (the creator) wants them to hold off till he finishes the manga.

So, I do agree that the Hellsing show is great(what's based off the manga), but it does become somewhat mediocre after about ep 6 or so. So my advice to hungry Hellsing fans: if you haven't gotten the manga, do so. It is very good, better than the show even. Vol1 shoild now be on sale in the U.S., and Vols1-6 in Japan (and at your local Japanese bookstore, should you be fortunate to have one, otherwise try Animenation)
I, myself, have Vols1-5 and am very pleased with the manga.
So CaTaClYsM, even if you didn't like the show very much, I highly recommend the manga. It couldn't hurt to at least give it a try.
The Big O will KILL you!

bloodlust was a good one, but i still like hellsing, that and the first 2 eps of Eva got a friend of mine hooked on anime ... if he weren't so stingy he'd be in it just as deep as i am.

Don't hold your breath. Hellsing did poorly in Japan and the odds of them creating a second series based on American popularity are extremely slim ... prehaps if some american distributor (bandai, or pioneer ... who ever has it now) were to finance a sequel ... then they'd do it ... but Hellsing would have to reach near Eva sized popularity for that to happen.

AVATAR TOO BIG. The size limit on the site is 80x80.

Also like ProPyro said, Hellsing is popular here but it didn't do so well in Japan. Much like Berserk there wasn't a huge fanbase for it although the fanbase for both here is astronomical. Im starting to think the Japanese dont like anime in which takes place outside of Japan and isn't a space anime.

Hmm ... well berserk didn't really happen any where ... it was a fantasy world that resembled midevel Europe and ... oh wait ... riiight ... midevel europe ... never mind ...

well somone made a point that the japanese sometimes just think things people out side their culture do are just too fucked up and it causes them to loose interest. On the other hands anime fans think things they do in japan are too fucked up and it brings about an opposite reaction ... go figure
