Burnout

Post by CaTaClYsM » Tue Dec 02, 2003 3:14 am

It's happened to me. I can't seem to watch any new animes. I don't like the didgital animation style. I don't like the repeated frames all over the place. I don't like the the way the consistency of the stories changes from good to bad and underwhelming endings. The last anime I liked was Last Exile and that was a real close one because of the way it was toward the last eps. Are there any animes coming out that are hand drawn, or at least look halfway decent?

I've been feeling the same way lately. :?

Which is why I'm focusing on finding oldschool anime like Saint Seiya.

It seems like Last Exile, Wolfs Rain, Rah Xephon and most new aniems in general are all done wiht a flood fill in Paint Shop Pro. Even high budget titles like the studios in the Animatrix didn't hide the fact that they were using flood fills and Premiere motion controlls to do alot of the stuff in Kid's Story in the Animatrix (Remember that really cool falling scene folks? That's right, premiere motion controlls at work.) After years of anime and poorly written movies (Like the Matrix Trilogy and Star Wars, and Trek.) I've just lost the ability ot tolerate continuity errors.

I was going to criticize the two of you severely. All here would have been laid low by my verbal barrage; it would have shook the heavens and scored the earth.

Then I realized you were spot-on.

Nevermind the animation style; most anime nowadays do lack interesting plots and characters. Now, the only series that really hold my attention are a few comedies, since the rest is rehashed garbage. I'm sure there are a few gems out there, but they're few and far between.

However, it's disturbing to think that it might have always been like this. Is the anime industry truly declining or is it simply not growing with us? Old-school anime might seem better now, but what about those new to anime? Nostalgia can be a powerful thing...

The stories is a whole other can of worms, lets just stick the the animation itself for the time being.

The ONE recent anime I've seen that I have really liked (And I haven't seen Last Exile) is Cromartie.
That Show IS GOLD.

Holy %#$^ing crap, someone else has seen Cromartie High?

You're my hero, El Banana. If angelx03 didn't remind me that I was male, I'd want to have your baby. As things stand, there might be a few complications.

I am now ending this post before I feel compelled to list the aforementioned complications in great detail.
