Public Showing for AMV's. Weekly event!! Bedroxx Center AZ
Ok I posted this in the wrong section so I am moving it here and sending it to an admin as well I have made a few updates so I will add those as well.
Ok I am being serious here. I am unsure of others feel the way I do but I have wanted to have my video's viewed by a live audiance. I work at Bedroxx in Tucson, Arizona as an Arcade Ass. Manager and I am working on getting our 32 big screens working to do just that. I have done some testing and at this point its foundation is being laid down.
We have done tests with the system we use for DJing and for sure it supports MPEG format 2. So any video's would have to be able to be converted to that format. I have Vegas Video and convert anything but avi and real player to the needed format.
Right now theres really no prise for winning, just getting viewed. Now there are some rules that have to be adheared to just because of the public audiance;
1) No Nudity.
2) Try and limit cursing if possible.
3) No Real Player Formats.
4) No hinting sexual represntation of any kind.
5) Please make sure all contact information is removed and no full video name-tags.
6) Try and use high quality and large video's. The projectors are far enough away to hide most small resolution problems, but your quality is important as it affects if it is played.
7) Use some commonsense, if it is not PG-13 type then its something you can ask me about. Don't hesitate to ask me I have no problem letting you know.
Now I am looking for someone to help me because if AMV feels that this would be good for them I would like to list them on any flyers and logo setups for the night or nights we do this. Also I would like to see an online setup for all those who submit so they can see there standing. It could really give the community some more feedback. Maybe someone from AMV Staff could let me know if this interests them.
Now back to the outline, so far video's can have a beginning and ending logo but they must meet the rules. We have not decided on a night or nights to do it but that will be solved soon. However one thing that needs to be made clear is that NO ONE IS GETTING PAID FOR ANYTHING WITH THIS!!! Also Bedroxx is not buying video's or promising that you will get some advancement by anyone looking for someone with skill, ect. This is a fun event. We will be discussing if we will have prises and how those will work for our online winners. We may do some bigger all out events with cash prizes or something but that depends on how things go and how people act. If anyone has any suggestions let me know everything is starting so its something that could help. If you have any questions ask me. Hope to hear from you all soon.
I need to make a list of video's to use, and to trake information ect. I would like to get it on my Pocket PC to make things easier so anyone who is good with Excel let me know I need it to track states, viewing replys, of course video name and creator, also Studio where applicable along with ratings and standings, It also needs to keep track of who has submitted videos if they were viewed ect.
Now I also wanted to see if anyone knows CraktSmurf. I would like to have his Destruction of Buu video to use on our opening night. I really enjoy watching it ^-^
Any help would be nice.

I stayed up one night playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and 4 people died.

Would you like to screen animix ? (somehow it breaks the 5th rule because there is some contact information at the end of the video, but I can remove it as long as the participants names appear...)
I still don't understand if your idea is a contest or only screening amvs. If it's for screening only, I'd be glad to send you a HQ version of animix. PM me if you're interested.
Now the reason why people don't answer to this message...
maybe because of some rules :
I'd say rule 5 (no contact information...does this mean no name of the creator ?)
and the mpeg-2 limitation too... you can't convert avi files, which is one of the most popular formats so I think this is a bit annoying for lots of people,

I've always had the same request / requirement for AMV contests and screenings. The reason is that it's a hardware requirement for some of us. The Hollywood card and its relatives (such as the Netstream) are native MPEG1/2 cards that play it all back via hardware. This results in VERY FEW errors during playback, and with Quu's program, you can just set up a nice little playlist and have no problems ^^.WilLoW :--) wrote:and the mpeg-2 limitation too... you can't convert avi files, which is one of the most popular formats so I think this is a bit annoying for lots of people,
Also, I would hope you don't have your master files encoded as DivX / XviD... you *should* have an MPEG-2 in there, somewhere, along with those ^^;;. Anyway, yeah... it's usually a hardware issue for guaranteed perfect playback.

In fact I have the HuffYUV files and a small Hard drive.VegettoEX wrote: Also, I would hope you don't have your master files encoded as DivX / XviD... you *should* have an MPEG-2 in there
I wouldn't be able to encode a mpeg2 at the moment because I have 800MB free on my Hard Drive, plus my free trial of tmpegenc has expired...
I have no problem with mpeg-2 and fully understand that people who want to screen amvs ask for this format. The "annoying" part for me was that he's not able to convert AVIs to mpeg-2, because for the reasons above neither do I...

Ok Rule 5 is a misundstanding. I mean no phone numbers or email address please by all means have your name or handle on it, an opening and exit title screen, just nothing about contacting you or others is all. Yes I know its annoying not beong able to play AVI but it has to start some where. We are working on getting away from DJ Power and using my laptop completely but we have to wait and see if everything goes well, then we can use any format we like. I would like to do stats you will get feedback from the viewers but at this time there is no prize just hey you were the best tonight. Thats why I was asking to see if anyone more versed in Excel could help me create a program to track the stats, submissions and other items.WilLoW :--) wrote:Would you like to screen animix ? If you would like to tell me how to get avi to mpeg-2 I would be happy to work with those users but I do not want to start spending all my time converting video's. I have a lot to do, I can convert most formats with vegas video except for avi and real player. (I can't get the audio with avi formats...not sure why) Anyway this is something I can work with others on I would just pref. that those who can would have there files in mpeg-2 format until we can change that. Although mpeg-2 seem to work the best with video's that may not be in such high definition when streaching them to full screen.WilLoW :--) wrote:In fact I have the HuffYUV files and a small Hard drive.VegettoEX wrote: Also, I would hope you don't have your master files encoded as DivX / XviD... you *should* have an MPEG-2 in there

TMP-Genc works too. You plan to do that "recording the audience" suggestion I made? Any or all of my vids, pick em and I'll give em up. Only my exit credits have my e-mail address in em...there's probably something I can do about that other than resave all the vids for you, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
