I've posted this before, but I keep forgeting. >.> Sorry, short memory span.

I have WMM but it won't play any of my dvds. I don't know if that's the program, or if it's our comp, cause my dad told me that our comp doesn't made for dvds. ((Windows 2000 edition)) Can anyone help me?

Um, Wmm (windows movie maker) doesn't play dvds - it's for making videos. :? It plays clips you've ripped from the dvd, or compressed clips (most any format).

Do you mean windows media player?

Well, don't you need to play the dvd to make the video? To find certin clips and record them and stuff? :? This is confusing....

No, you use a program to rip the vobs from the dvd. It's in the guides on the member main page - just read the section about 'getting dvd footage' - you download a few programs and they rip the vobs, then you take the clips you want and save them to huffyuv (as clips) which can be imported into a movie maker.

In the blue menu on the left, under guides. It's called AbsoluteDestiny & ErMaC's Technical Guides to All Things Audio and Video

Going to the guides will tell you how to rip the DVD video onto your computer. This means you convert to .vob file on the DVD to a video file your computer can play or use in a video editor.

But it sounds more like you want to watch/play a DVD. This is not operating system dependant. I watch DVDs on my laptop and it runs Windows 98. Your computer basically needs two things: a DVD ROM and DVD playing software. Windows Movie Maker is not a DVD player. You should be able to upgrade your Windows Media Player to version 9 and it will recognize and play DVDs. I just want to make sure the point is covered.

How about we actually answer the question instead?

Here, read this: www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/avtech

There should be a link somewhere on there to a page that talks about ripping DVDs and making source clips (since I assume WMM can't take AVISynth scripts).
