QUESTION

Post by MamoruMaskT » Wed Nov 26, 2003 11:34 pm

I got a question. I got this drive on my PC. It's LITE ON LTN486 48x MAX. Is it only a CD drive cause people say it's also a DVD drive but when I put in a DVD nothing happens. And if it is a DVD drive do I need the software too? Thanx!

Got a bit of bad news for you. Whoever told you the Lite-On LTN-486 is a DVD drive is incorrect. LTN is Lite-On's designator for CD drives. Their DVD drives have LTD model numbers.

The 486 won't read DVDs.

there is a difference between nothing happening and not reading the disc. i can put a dvd in my drive and have NOTHING happen... but it still reads the disc. everyone's computer is different so you can't assume they will all do the same thing, that's why i said, if you can't see the disc in my computer, then the drive doesn't read it. now if i wanted to get more anal about it, i could add that some drives have a hard time reading some discs...
