Bush, although saying one time on the campaign trail "after serving in 2 wars I know about helping our military", never served in ANY war. He was in the Texas Air National Guard and skipped out a year early. If anyone I know in the Guard left a year early they'd get prison time for going awol, course his daddy was governor at the time.

No one in the administration had to see any real hard action. Powell was in and served but wasn't in any big messes, to him it's almost a game. The rest of them love the idea of sending us to die for a quick buck.

Funnily enough, four days after the Declaration of Independence was publically promulgated, the people of Boston were ordered to show up to be drafted to fight the British. Rich people could buy their way out by hiring substitutes. This appears to be an American tradition, for the rich to make the poor die in war, as opposed to say, Britain, where Earls and Barons are expected fight, and, if necessary, perish on the field of battle.

I like the Brittish except for the whole colonialist thing(not in the U.S. but around the world, although I would hate it more if the Russians had won the Big Game)

I'm in college, the U of MT in Missoula. Generally speaking the city is on the liberal side(#7 party U in the country), although things still get consery when the president or abortion is mentioned.

Alot of you have little idea what goes on in wars........ i've been force fed this stupid shit about linch from my Drill Sergeants......... they use her as an example of what not to do in a war......... she's a joke and a discredit to the military service.........i could care less what happens to her, had she done what she had been taught from the beginning she wouldn't have been in the situation she was in.......... maybe she would be dead, but atleast she wouldn't be the circus freak she is now and could've been a real hero........maybe.......

As far as Bush goes it doesn't matter who the President is......... they're all gonna do what they want regardless of who dies for them......... As long as presidents come from rich families, those that haven't had to earn their way to the position......... its not going to change.........-.-

Anyways, the Lynch story may have no value to us, but i should imagine it helped the morale of the troops still stationed in Iraq.

I know that while I was pver there, everone in my unit, 77th Fighter Squadron/AMU, had no repect for her, I'm glad she lived, but they are making too big a deal about it, but then every war need something big to happen.

As for Toecutter, think about what you are going to say before you wite it, if we said the term "raghead" it was an immediate repremand. She was not raped, they treated her decently, though the soldiers who catured her did some damage to her. I don't think she joined the army for publicity, she probably joined for the same reason eighty percent of us join.
Just because you know a lot about guns dosen't mean you know a lot about the military, good on your mom, but you don't need to be a crack shot to get on a military rifle drill team.

Well she was yesterday's news until the she came out recently and said the media completely blew her rescue out of proportion. She looked like she was seriously trying to present what she did in a realistic light. She admitted that she didn't fire a shot. She didn't want a movie made about her.

I respect her for going over there, period. It's more then what I'd ever do as I don't intend to volunteer for the military and do her job. I don't have the fighting mentality and I'm not physically fit enough to do so. I respect her for coming out with the truth rather than just going along with the image that the media set up.

But I don't respect her as a hero in the same way I would for someone who died in action or put his/her life in jeopardy for the sake of others.
