Well..this isn't so much as a video problem as it is a issue possibly with my soundcard set up.

My soundcard is a soundblaster 16 PCI (I'm sure ahead of my time). Upon first installing and using it, I could play a video file flawlessly, unlike my previous soundcard..which is the the same card but older (not PCI), which suffered from the same problem that is occuring again.

Now the only noticable difference in how the audio once played, and how it plays now is that in the 'volume control', under 'Wave' you'd see an osciliscope type thing (where you'd have a bar move to the frequency of the music) ranging from green, yellow, and red. When that was able to bee seen visually working..the video playback was smooth. Somewhere within a few weeks....(okay 2 weeks), I must of altered the settings in some way that now that 'sound bar' is no longer visible....

Do to what ever I did, some videos, given the amount of highmotion or info used to display that video, won't play smoothly, momentarily freeze up on certain scenes (while the audio still plays fine).

Now this only happens on videos of higher resolutions, cause smaller res vids don't require as much to play them so they play smoothly.

An example would be Hackercqe's (sp?) Escaflowne Movie vid "Sliding Away". The video plays fine, cept for 2 scenes at the beginning where a noise filter along with some motion effects was used. Often I've seen when a noise filter is used, mostly on a color picture (non-black n white), it causes the picture to freeze for the duration until a scene change occures.

My Millenium vid has this happen as well, with the scene at the beginning with Tiara looking up as flower pettles fall down twards her. Earlier I could play that scene without any hassle...but now it'll freeze up on that scene no matter what.

Now audio wise, I have tried lowering the performance settings on my audio playback devices, but that didn't resolve the problem any. I have done the same with my video as well as even restoring all the settings back to defalt to see if there is any change, which there wasn't, so I'm suspecting that it has to do with my audio playback settings of some sort.

Now...if I am wrong and there is possibly something else that may be a better solution (other than buying another card, fuck you to who ever even thinks of suggesting that) to what I have done to more or less screw up my settings, by all means let me know, actually any info would be nice, because I am pretty much puzzled at the issue.

Are you sure you didnt install a new version of the divx decoder or something?
