Shinji: Butch or Bitch?

Post by samurairyu » Wed Nov 12, 2003 6:46 pm

I'm gonna say Bitch...

*we can say bitch right, no censores about language?*

Even after he "comes to terms" in that godawful episode that's all "you see yourself like this, I see you like this, blah, blah, blah, I get it! I'm a whole person now!" he still hates to fight and immediately goes right back to same old little weiner.

Sooo sorry if I've offended any of you "EVA's soo cool, soo philosophical, oooo" kiddies out there.

EVA had hot chicks, robo-man-thingy-suits, aliens(or are they? ), and psychological issues.

I could have done without the issues.

So...who wants a piece of Kawa no Ryu?

Come on, insult me all you want  ...insult me all I want...

I love da punishment.

Any of you ladies out there gotta whip?
...no fear no sadness!

I can't agree with the question.

Shinji is neither a bitch nor a butch.

He is a kid who lost his mother and was abandoned by his father. He was emotionally damaged and suddenly thrust into a horrible situation. Over the course of the show, he discovered how to open up... to make friends... he challeneged his own fear and confronted the things that frightened him. Like many of us, some of the lessons he learned stuck while others didn't hold and e had to learn them again.

His story is one of empowerment and overall and optimistic message.

Shinji is not a bitch... he's a child who has more thrust upon him than a child should have.

Shinji is not butch. He doesn't become some tough hombre... nor does he become some optimistic war hound screamin' "bring it on"

He just finds the courage to face himself... to face what he is and try to work with what he's got in the face of all the rest of humanity.

I think Shinji is an amazingly complicated character and his story help characterize problems in life we all face... problems of forming friendships, of developing trust and overcoming obstacles as best as you can. Learning how to find your own voice... learning how to be who you are and learning to like who you are.

Shinji is a true hero, just not a conventional one.

There are two kinds of people in this world:
Those who divide people into two kinds of groups
and those who don't.

well the hero part may be going a little far buy other than that i agree with most of the other stuff.

I could repeat what Milo said, but I'll just be simple:

Shinji is a boy who overcomes his problems and learns that he's worth something...Just a boy. The end.

lol, that's a lot of "twisted" smilie faces all in one post. 0_0

Bitch or butch... I'd have to say or. o_0 But seriously, I just can't see myself choosing one of those options. He's definitely not some tough rock'em sock'em guy, but neither is he as much of a cry baby and wuss as most people would like to believe. I've seen enough people crack with much less weight to have to carry on their shoulders, so I certainly can't blame Shinji for the choices he makes.

I see him as more of a simpleton... He can't do anything for himself when he's not completely overcome by emotion.

shinji isn't remotely like hamlet. he doesn't have a dead father saying "Avenge me", nor does he act insane for any reason.

Uhhh, which Eva did you watch?

Anyways, both characters are trapped and tormented by their situations (both of which involve their fathers), and both have emotional explosions as a result. How are they so different?
