I would like to know how you can sleep at night after defending the company that thaught of the fallowing:
"How can we milk Evangelion more?"
"Release the movies?"
"No... we let Manga entertainment do that."
"Recreate Evangelion with live action and lots of white people and Americanisms, then sell it to people that masturbate thinking of Rei Ayanami every night?"
"BRILLIANT!"

Someone may have commented on this already... so I apologize if I'm mrepeating something written... but ADV does have its own voice pool. They are in Texas and use many of the same voice actors on varous products.
The Ocean Group in Canada has been hired by many distributors to dub many titles, because using the studio in Canada costs less (which is why a a lot of work in various parts of the entertainment industry has been moving up to Canada)
Then there are companies like Animaze and New Generation Pictures who are hired by different studios to provide voice actors. (I have done work for both these companies)
Anyway... just wanted to throw out some information there.
And yes... while I am a voice actor, I get all my anime in Japanese... mostly because I just happen to like to hear things in their original language (end of story). In fact, the only 2 dubs I do get (after almost 20 years of collecting) would be Ranma 1/2 and Cowboy Bebop

There are two kinds of people in this world:
Those who divide people into two kinds of groups
and those who don't.

I really am just a walla voice actor. I'm background voices, crowds, thugs, biker-scum, and the occasional one-liner.
I was this cop in Big-O
I was some of the party folk in Big-O who had their heads set on fire
I have been background voices in titles including Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket, Gundam 08th Team, Sol Bianca, The new dub of Akira, Fushigi Yugi, Dangaizer 3, and countless episodes of Fist of the North Star (TV)
I was William Morris in Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory
Gordo the Bear in Fist of the North Star (TV)
Gonzales in Yamamoto Yoko
George in NieA_7
and
I was credited as a Skateboard Punk (I was actually two of them in the same scene) in Nazca... I was also credited as "Messenger"
Oh... and in the last episode of Cowboy Bebop, I'm every single guy Spike kills from the moment he enters the building until he gets to Vicious (except for one guy) and I did some other background voices in the last 2 episodes.

I'm sorry, but I still hate ADV, and will continue to complain about them for eternity. No, I don't believe they put the fans first. I believe they put money first. It's all about trying to dominate the market, trying to make every cent they can. If they truely cared about fans, they wouldn't pull some of the shit that they pull. I'm sorry, but thats how it is. I've hated ADV stuff ever since I bought my first ADV anime, Evangelion dub on vhs, many many years ago. Every subsequent adv title I have purchased has similarly disappointed, or even angered me. Some of there business practices annoy me even more. Like how they would licensed titles and then just sit on them forever before releasing them. Case in point, Sakura Wars TV, which they had for nearly 3 years before releasing a single episode.

They only put 'Misato's Fan Service' on the end of the first tape, right? Where they showed about 4 crappy concept art scenes? Then they kept promising it... but noooooo.Zarxrax wrote:I've hated ADV stuff ever since I bought my first ADV anime, Evangelion dub on vhs, many many years ago.
I demand Misato's fanservice! Not only do I want her to service my fan, I want her to service the airconditioner!

And, um, isn't GAiNAX also in on this whole live-action Eva thing?

what companie puts thier customers first? It's all bout the money.
Anyways, I havnt really gotten that many ADV movies yet. The only ones are the Smaurai X ones and I found them....ok. Well the dubbing was horrid in reflections so I watch them always in japanese but I found the first Samurai X dubbing very good.
So allt he people whoose complaning how bad the dubbing is, then watch it in Japanese for crying out louad!! Does the voices really make the anime? Sure, having a tough masuline guy and have a female sounding voice play him is over the top but if a charactors voice isnt right on par but is close who cares. Deal with it.
At least you dont get scewed over with the editing crap Toonami does and Funimation. I just watched the new DBZ Brolly movie by Funi and that thing was pure trash I thought. Not the movie but the way Funimation edited it. So my dubbing and/or editiong frustrations go to Funimation and Funimation only
