I know there's a rumour going around all those kilometres away that we spell things differently, but I hope you realise that's there no evidence at all

Okay, fun with spoilers:

What I don't get, is why Asuka and Shinji had to do all that DDR crap to defeat Israfel. Sorry, but in my Western Culture-based mind, here's what I'd do:
1. Waste Israfel with the N2 mine
2. Waltz right over with a pulsitron rifle or the Lance of Longinus while Israfel is dormant.
3. <Insert witty Arnold one liner here> "Stick around" (for use with the Lance of Longinus), or "You're fired!" (for use with a pulsitron rifle).
4. Kill the Angels while they can't defend themselves
5. <Insert Highlander line here> "There can be only one!"

Perhaps because:

Their Evas took a beating and needed time to regenerate and recover, AND the Lance of Longinus had not been recovered from Antarctica yet, and there's no guarantee that a positron rifle would have done the job. The Angels' AT Fields were of varying strengths, remember. Like, as I think someone pointed out, all the ammo that Asuka threw at Zeruel didn't do any damage.

And then, of course, there's the simple reason that that DDR/Twister stuff just makes the episode a lot more fun to watch. Since we hadn't gotten into the second half of the series yet, where everything gets dark and depressing, fun to watch = good.

Actually i thought it was quite obvious the reason in using the DDR things. Because the angel had 2 seperate cores and in order for it to be compltely destryoed both of them has to be destryoed at the same time. Thus the reasonf or the synch training using DDR. Of course there could of probly been other appraochs taken, but they wernt
