Help with AMV

I'm trying to make a fruits basket AMV but I can only get clips with subtitles and it's annoying me. Is there anyway to get rid of the subtitles on a clip or make them not appear somehow?

I have the DVD, but i'm using Windows Movie Maker 2/ Ulead Video Studio 7 and both won't import the clips. Am I doing something wrong or is it windows/the programs?

That's what most people do when they want to use DVD footage, I think.
