Brush with a baking soda based toothpaste. Ironically, not brushing can also be a cause. You saliva has digesting chemicals and in some people it starts to break down your mouth lining and causes sores when you eat certain foods and the components cause your saliva to almost become detergent like. Use Kanka, it's that nasty stuff hatter was talking about...it's what you'd get if you went to the doctor.
According to my dentist, they can also be stressed induced. Mine are. And I haven't gotten any since I left school almost a year ago.
Rembrandt makes a special toothpaste to reduce the occurence of sores. It's a little on the expensive side, but it does keep my occurence down when under stress. Since leaving school I have reverted back to normal toothpaste and not had a problem.
Orabase B is great. I used it. It coats and cushions the sore, and it's nearly numbing as novacaine. You will feel nothing once you apply it. Avaliable over the counter at your local drugstore or supermarket.
If you are one to believe in Chinese medicine, I'm overbalanced in fire chi. When I get really overbalanced, this causes sores. Eat more rice and drink this nasty green stuff that I have no idea how to pronounce.
