To .zip or not to .zip?
Okay-
Here's the short: How do I cram a 250MB amv into 100MB or less to upload here WITHOUT using tmpeg? AND without .zipping so that the video can remain on a-m-v.org? (I don't have a host yet.)
I re-recorded the .avi file into an .mpg file using Studio 7, but I'm still at 110MB.

Zipping shouldn't work anyway - the file is already compressed, zip is lossless, and it shouldn't be possible to losslessly compress an already-compressed file by any significant amount.LivItUp wrote:AND without .zipping so that the video can remain on the Org?

im just wondering why the hell the amv has to be more than 50 megs in the firs place. seriosly, with the way some people talk about image quality here, it sounds like they'd break down in tears if they ever saw the slightest hint of pixelisationLivItUp wrote:Okay-

It doesn't need to be that big, if you can make it smaller and still keep the quality reasonable.bum wrote:im just wondering why the hell the amv has to be more than 50 megs in the firs place. seriosly, with the way some people talk about image quality here, it sounds like they'd break down in tears if they ever saw the slightest hint of pixelisation
I think it's safe to say that while image quality and overall quality of a vid are not always equal, the image quality is going to have a definite impact on many people's viewing pleasure. So naturally, one wants to make it as good as possible while keeping the file size reasonable.
And then there are some people who toss file size out the window and post a 720x480 MPEG-2 file to the Donut... *coughbogocough*

That's funny, I've never seen a codec that causes pixelization.bum wrote:im just wondering why the hell the amv has to be more than 50 megs in the firs place. seriosly, with the way some people talk about image quality here, it sounds like they'd break down in tears if they ever saw the slightest hint of pixelisation
