I despise dream theater, I dislike Symphony X, Rush is probably one of the most annoying bands I've ever listened to, I'm not a big Evergrey fan (unless they're live) I don't really like Iced Earth. Anyone else?

I'm a Power Metal fan, not Prog.

Iced Earth is power metal. How can you deny the emense talent of bands like Rush, Dream Theater, and Evergrey. I could possibly understand it not being 'your thing' but to say it's bad music is just insane.

Nailz likes to generalize. There is a particular type of music he dislikes - which, he decided, is called Prog Metal, and it sucks.

Which is to say that his definitions of both prog and metal are pretty biased. Which isn't neccesarily a bad thing since there's no such thing as being "objectively prog". It's all in how you interpret it...

I don't mind so much that he just doesn't like it but calling it 'bad' it pretty over-opinionated. I'm not a big fan of Dream Theater either. I don't even own any of their albums but I'm not going to call them a bad band. I recognize their great talent and just say that they aren't for me.

Iced Earth is Progressive metal. I don't know how you can even consider them Power Metal. I felt the need to bring up Iced Earth because they are a prime example of a Prog Metal band I hate. I have no idea what your name or the name of the band or whatever it was your talking about has to do with the connection of me mentioning them. There's one or 2 dream theater songs I like, there's 1 or 2 SyX songs I like, there's a few Iced Earth songs I like, etc etc etc, but overall, these bands make the shittiest music I've ever heard.

Now, if you're going to take my opinion as truth on the matter, well then, I think you need to get your head examined.

See, I didn't decide to call it Prog Metal. The sub-catagory of the genere was there long before I became a metal fan. If you don't like it, Otohiko, take it up with the rest of the metal community, not me.
