Gotta agree with the other posters. For all that AWA gets a lot of praise on these boards, we are only a middling-sized con. If you're looking for the big-con experience with long lists of guests and 10,000 hyperactive teens running around, that's not us. If you're looking for a smaller, more personal con that's used as a common gathering point for AMVers and long-time congoers, an opportunity for parties, and a minimum of stupid people stunts, but which only tops out attendance around 5,000, then come down and give us a shot.

We also seem to get repeat business from Canada, if that's any indication...

Yea.. go figure.. I wonder who those saps are that would go down to Atlanta every year and pay those rediculious prices due to a weak Canadian dollar...

Well, at the rate our dollar is climbing, it may become chaper to have AWA in Canada... just rename it to AWA Alberta :P

Well-

I was born and raised in Los Angeles. It's a great place to live. Beaches. Mountains. You can surf and snowboard in the same season (and the same day in most cases). Amusement parks. Hollywood. Little Tokyo. KROQ-FM.
Then I moved to Atlanta.
Let me tell you this......
Go to AWA.

>:P

Well besides all that, I think if your gonna drive cross country, AX might have more to offer. Unless AMV's are your main reason for cons, I'd say AX. AWA has many contests, AMV panels, and AMV creators, but everything else is much smaller compared to AX :P Huge dealers room, lots of swag (free stuff), Japanese guests (also alot of English VAs), concerts, and hawt cosplayers :O

Plus, it's in the summer, if your students.

Hey-

You can drive from LA to ATL in 48 hours straight. With a six-hour sleep stop in the middle.
Best to take I-15 to I-40 (you'll have less time in Texas). Then cut through Memphis on US78 to Birmingham.

I did it.
Alone.
Three times.
Once in a U-Haul
