odd thing Vdub did to me
I was working on a "Bohemian Rhapsody" AMV , and worked with it in Vdub. I saved it in Vdbu (took the longest time), but, get this.... the file size is 3 GB!!!!!! Can someone tell me why V-dub made the file size 3 GB???? This is an insane amount of space for a video, and is defenently not good.

Did you compress it? ^_^; If it's long, and you save to huffyuv format you might get a similar file size as well.
If it's your finished product (meaning you're not going to edit with it) try compressing to xvid. The guides will give you a few different ways to do that, or you can just play with the options. ^_^

The song is 5:30 (m/s) long, and was first made in WMM, converted to AVI (where it's File size was 70.0 MB), and then I started the work in V-dub. I will also check on converting it to X-vid when it's done (i don't like the quality of the clips... i am trying to make the quality of my clips better then my other videos). Thanks for the info.

The file size is large because you saved the video uncompressed.Kenshin8518 wrote:The song is 5:30 (m/s) long, and was first made in WMM, converted to AVI (where it's File size was 70.0 MB), and then I started the work in V-dub. Also, each time you compress the video, it loses quality. So if you save to WMV, then avi, then avi AGAIN, you are losing quality THREE times! Stick with the original wmv file.

What format of avi did you compress it to the first time? If the avi looks worse than the original (unless you produced it from wmm as an avi) then you may have to try a different converter. If you can find something that will convert to huffyuv it should be nearly the same as the original, otherwise it's going to be lower quality to begin with.Kenshin8518 wrote:The song is 5:30 (m/s) long, and was first made in WMM, converted to AVI (where it's File size was 70.0 MB), and then I started the work in V-dub. It's much easier if you edit the original clips in Vdub before you make the vid. But yes, xvid is a good compression codec. Or you can try TMPGEnc if your avi is compatible with it and you want to have the vid in mpg format.
