I agree, a favorite creators list I think might do just that. Or maybe it will do nothing but inflate the egos of those who see it.

Anyway, Lyrs, you don't say the F word.

And... Rubyeye's my favorite creator, video-wise. But... my favorite creator (to take a different, more personal approach) is either Misty, Chaos Angel, or Koop.

hmm, i already got my fav creators in my profile.
(kevin caldwell, cailet studios)

a separate list would be nice in theory. although it could turn ugly with favoritism and could turn amvs more into politics.
example 1: a creator might say i'll put you on my fav list if you put me on yours.
example 2: creator A creates an video that is nothing but a promotion of creator B's video just to get on creator B's fav list.
example 3: creator X has creator Y on her best videos list and creator Y knows this. creator x creates a not so hot video and asks creator y to op it. creator Y thinks the video sucks, but what are the chances he'll give it an honest review, with the fear of being taken off or lowered on the list? i know that some of us are beyond rankings and ratings, but a lot of us aren't, either consciously or subconsciously.

there are probably more examples, not gonna list them all

A sort of "alert list" would be cool. Everytime a creator on your fav list enters a new video into the database, you would get a message on your member main page. 8)

We don't have to worry about it being a 'dick-measuring contest' since we already have the 'favorites list' for vids. I mean, we *know* which vids are put on the favoirtes lists most often - there's a section just to show them off. What difference would it make to add another section for creators instead of specific vids?

All the worries right now are about things that can already happen with the 'favorites list' - if people want to use it to promote each other, they can already do that with the favorite vid lists. Having a favorite creators list would hurt nothing - the only difference is you get the name of the person instead of the title of a specific vid.

I would like this addition. ^_^

We can lists up to 100 vids on our current 'favorites' list, but when you get a creator with a lot of videos you like it would be much easier to just mark his name instead of putting each vid on your vids list.

The only drawback I see would be where to fit it on the profile.

[And I agree with Janzki - some sort of counting so you know how many times a vid has been added to a favorites list would be a nice addition. Especially for those who will never have enough to make the top 'favorite vids' list.

Heh, you don't have to worry about that ever happening. ^_^;;

I just don't like listing 15 vids by the same person on my top 100 list - and then 5 for another, and 6 for another and so on. It would give me a lot more space if I could say 'Castor Troy' once and let people know that he had more than 2 vids I liked rather than having to put them all in. And I like a *lot* of vids, so I'd enjoy the extra room on the favorite 100 for the one-hit-wonders. As it is I stopped even updating it because I knew it would be full in no time with vids by the same few people leaving no room for new editors with one or two vids I like as well. >.<

If there's going to be corruption using this list, why not just make it so that people aren't able to place themselves on their own list. I'm not asking for a list of "Top 25 Creators" or anything like that. I just want a list where I can show everyone the creators that I think are the best out there from the videos that I have seen.

I personally would like to find some of the creators that aren't well known (meaning that they are only known to the few). Those few creators would place those good, but relatively unknown creators on the list and it'd be easy for me to look up. My favorite creator probably has to be PieRowManiac, followed closely by ErMaC.

It could also be based on the Donut. Like you have to download at least 2 or 3 videos from that person to be able to put them on your favorite creator list.

The main argument is that there are multiple ways to deal with any corruption that may pop up. I just want this list!
