WTF? [Canadian halloween suicide cult]

What the hell?

Apparently, there's something wacky going on around here, and it seems like people are freaked out, maybe more than they should be.

[This is not a joke/fictional thingy by the way]

Anyways, yesterday I got a call to my house from my brother's school's messaging system assuring that they will be taking measures regarding the recent 'rumors'.

After some further research, namely asking my brother, it turned out that there were shooting threats directed against each of the 3 high schools in the area, one of which my brother goes to, and another is just across the road from our house. There is apparently some sort of 'Halloween Suicide Cult' in the area, which last year involved 3 people from the said school across the road killing themselves.

This year, rumor has it there's a lot more of them, and they sent threats that they'll organize shootings. And it seems people took it seriously. Schools cancelled halloween activities, police is on guard, and a lot of the kids won't even be going to school tomorrow. In other words, from the talk on the bus to college today, I got the impression people are scared shitless of this.

Apparently, it's even been mentioned on the news (non-local).

So, WTF? Is this... common, is this happening anywhere else? Or is this some new rage of bored nowheretown Canucks? I think it's a dud, but if you hear of shootings in Canada on the news tomorrow, know I'll be on the frontline...

erm... yeah, on the fronline man, take one for the team.... shit man you can like do a dive in front of a pumpkin to stop it getting shot... noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.....

i kid, thats some crazy whacked out shit..... this is why guns are bad ideas, we should still use swords. people wouldnt be so quick to kill themselves with swords, it takes longer and hurts more....

Well, seeing as to how Canada has a very low violent crime rate (correct me if I'm wrong), the very idea of organized school shotings/suicide cults scares the shit out of your average, stereotypical family guy.

Those of us who are more desensitized to violence won't react in such a manner. I'd personally not pay too much attention to it (especially considering the beefed security everywhere), but try to stay alert in any case.

Well that's just euh..."special" ....oh well, the only weird things going on around here, *my little nowhere town in Canada* are hayrides and the like...no shooting/cult thingy's for us ^^
