Initial D's "tricked" version
Well during the anime social, someone played Initial D's "tricked" version since a bunch of people were curious about it. To our demise, we just felt wasted. All the euro-mix songs (INCLUDING the opening and closing songs) were replaced with some weird hip-hop music. Also Tokyopop felt like throwing in cheesy effects like that reverse colorization effect, an unexpected wipe, and that 4x4 window screen (shows the copied car 4 time on the same screen). Everyone was disgusted at this though the dubbing was pretty decent (except for some of the name changes).

I own both of the DVDs so far. I first watched it normal. Then I went to tricked out. The moment the colors inverted and I saw split screens I was shouting "WTF!" The excuse that they spent two years trying to do that before they released it is pathetic. The inverted colors was most annoying. Before I realized it was Tokyo Pop screwing up the video I was in motion to give my monitor a 'gentle tap'.

I find it funny how they advertise it like it's something "extra" when in fact it's less. I've even heard they changed some scenes around and worse...the names. Who the fuck is Tak? Zack? Cole?
Tricked-out? More like retarded...
Thankfully it's all on one DVD and you can just go to the normal version and watch it subtitled and with the correct names and music.
Then again, one could argue that the anime series isn't even worth it since they took out a substantial amount from the manga..although for good reason (i.e. sex).

Also, not stopping at changing to american dub with name changes, they have also changed the car sounds and made them shall we say "riced out".
Their advertising slogan was " the fast and the furious meets speed racer "
And they hit that on the nose pretty well, the only problem is people dont realise what a retarded combo that is
In the end Initial D is a great and fun series, but tp deffinitly butchered it.
