Random Video

I just had a thought and I decided to share...
What about adding a "random video" button to the member main page. The function would basically just randomly generate a video id number and take you to that page.

Personally I think it would be good because sometimes I have some free time and would like to download a video but I can't think of what to search for or I've already tried all the new or announced videos. And I also don't want to offer to do free ops (a great way to get random videos) since I won't have the time to do an op in the next month or so.

I believe there is a similar function on this site

There's an item on the site's to-do list that says '"Give me a random video to download" button.' I'm not sure of the specifics of that, but it sounds like something similar to what you have in mind.

even in the best case in which no video entry has more than one DL link, you would have under a 50% chance of hitting a video entry that has a link.

take away the video entries with dead links, and it seems like you'd have to hit the random video button three times on average before you hit a downloadable video.

but if you want to download a random video, there's always the new vid on the block. or you could go to the op exchange and look for posts in which someone is requesting an exchange and just watch the vid without making the op exchange deal.

I'd think it'd be somewhat similar to the New Vid On The Block feature in that it only goes to vids with Local downloads. Then you know its downloadable.
