well... once I can get some more cons to pick up IC i can beging to experiment...

with just AWA I had to be VERY VERY doubly sure about who compeated... but now that Acen and Fanime picked it up I can have "hack" challengers like Doki Doki and D-Dubbah

once I get to the "magic" number of 5 cons regularaily doing IC then I can have a wider selection of editors and challengers... I fon't think though I will do more than 7 cons... 5-6 is my goal...
Lead me not to temptation, for I have deadlines

Yes, I was implementing on the stress. =\

I don't think you guys are getting what I'm saying though.
This would be a friendly competition for fun for editors who ARN'T in Iron Chef.

Do you think 4-5 editors get to everything? Why not get the others involved. Like some of the other forum regulars. Not just you guys who do everything. =\

I'm not saying "Hey, everyone who does Iron Chef has to do this [if it ever is made]" I am saying "Hey, guys who do Iron Chef, is this a good idea for people who don't do Iron Chef to get involved in?"

Where does it say the same people will be doing this?

Also, SQ, I dont think you really appreciate that this isnt a show for the amv creators it's one for the audience. The amv creators go through hell (seriously) and make something below par to their standards in order to entertain an audience. It's not fun up there. This isn't an amv competition, it's a circus and a circus has to be entertaining which is why people are chosen who have a good chance of giving the audience a show.

I was picked partly due to the hype that could be created because of it. That's the way it goes. It has very little to do with actual amv creation in any serious way. The only thing aimed for is that the creators dont make something that looks like shit, the rest is for the amusement of the audience.

OK say what you want about me, but Doki Doki isn't a hack :-P

Experiments eh?

I'd still like to do Iron Chef vs. Iron Chef (even past Iron Chefs). And yes, I'd like to be one of them to get stomped by Hsien or Tim :).

Implementing eh? :)

BTW, what says that you can't do Iron Chef in the comfort of your own home with your friends and peers? I mean it's not like Quu has some monopoly on it or something. It's just an event for the con.

The only things missing are an audience (which probably makes it less stressful for you) and ultimately some flimsy title that means nothing. I mean seriously, "Iron Chef ACen/Fanime/AWA," who cares? We also don't get any sort of prize or anything. Hell, all I got was a pen from the hotel staff because they felt sorry for me.

Also as AD has already answered quite nicely, it's not the same people everytime. The iron chef obviously is the one who won last year, but the challenger changes every year.

In fact, two of the three iron chefs this year (ACen/me and Fanime/Tim) were challengers this year. Obviously all three of us are getting new challengers who have never done it. I know that Brad Demoss, Nigel, Joe Croasedaile, Justin Emerson and Outlaw have all done it as well (as challengers or Iron Chefs). So don't worry, more then 4 people get the opportunity to do it, but as AD said, it ultimately is how entertaining you can be and if you *can* do it. I know it sounds elitist or arrogant, but you gotta be able to do it and deal with that stress since it's a con event and people wanna be entertained.

Again, nothing's stopping you from doing it in the privacy of your own home with friends. I know the Hypeo, Mindwarp and RVP folks do that and have a great time.

Actually, there is something stopping me.
It's the lack of people who can edit.
I know there's TWO people who live in the state of georgia who edit. TWO.
I know Mr. Pilkiton(sp.) lives a few minutes away, but the other person(who I cannot remember the name fo right now) lives a few hours away.

Okay, say we manage to get together somehow. 3 people? I'd hardly call that a friend thing. =\

I mean, if I was allowed, or had the time to drive over to some rogue Iron Chef thing with Hypeo and RVP you bet I would, but the sad truth is I can't. =\

As for what AD said, I am silenced by the harsh realityt hat is the truth. =|

You only know two other people in GA? I know quite a few more then that. There's a reason AWA is in Atlanta....AMV editors live there :). MC Wagner (ok maybe not an editor), Quu and Redwolf all live in Georgia.

You know you could always Iron Chef online right? Determine song and source online and go against anyone you wanted. *shrug*...just trying to help out.

And Ian is right, Iron Chef is hell...it's nearly as stressful as final's week in college...ok maybe not :P

Alright, Red Wolf. That's a whopping four people. =\
Online? How?
You determine the stuff, yeah. But you'd have to like... Stay in a chat room of somesort the whole two hours. And even then, everyone's comp has different processing speeds, so, What could take one person 2 seconds to render could take another 2 hours, and that'd be unfair to the editor...

And even then, how would you display them to the others and judge? What if someone was on 56k?
No, I think online Iron Chef would fall apart... Completely.

*shrug*

Ask the hypeo/rvp/mindwarp fellows. I know they've done it before and you're right that computers are different, but they deal with all that for the sake of fun...or at least I think they have fun :).

And why do you have to remain in the chatroom? Not like you're gonna chat...you're gonna edit. You could always set handicaps for computers...also 56k? You shouldn't be on the .org then j/k :-P

Well, first, do you have to quote what is right above you? I mean, this thread is turning into a huge quote tunnel...

And the RVP/Hypeo I am pretty sure did it in MJ's apartment/hotel room, not online. But I could be wrong.

Handicaps are good, but there's still the 56k problem, and doing it online would be more stressful than in person(to me).
When I'm around other editors, it's all a game to me. But when it turns online it's like sheer competition "I must make this AMV better then so and so's or I will die!" As opposed to "This is fun, tiem to laugh at my mistakes" in person.
But then again, that's just me.

As for staying in the chat room the whole time, I was saying that so you didn't go over the time limit; so everyone knew what everyone else was doing...
