What about the people that really can't pay? My bill for tuition just came in yesterday... the minimum payment is $3,000 and I've got about $300 in my account. It may only be $5 that I'd contribute, but I'm counting every dollar and donation isn't a priority right now.

Granted, I've only got one video but that's irrelevant. :?

well i dont know exact numbers or anything, but check all the editors that are new, that upload a few vids, then vanish never to come back. for reasons of being discouraged by bad ops, or just losing interest.

or maybe another way, you can upload more than 2 if the 2 vids you uploaded are rated at least at a 3.25 or above after recieving 10 star ratings.

better than the donation requirement idea
but it still has faults:
people are going to get their best friends to create accounts and vote 5s on their vids. or in the other extreme, a good video might hit a series of harsh raters on its first ten votes (or elitists who vote only 1s on dbz videos even if the video is good)

this was my idea from before:
downwithpants wrote:my proposal would be that creators must receive at least 1 opinion (not from themselves) before they can begin uploading videos. If they cant store their vids online, they can at least go to op exchange, find someone willing to give an opinion, then transfer them over mirc or aim (or in the worst case, mail a burned CD.) The problem now is that the creators might get their friends to create an account and give their opinions. so to resolve this problem, i say the opinion giver must have been a member of the org for at least a month.
let me add i learned a lot from my first opinion, and improved a lot from it.

in this situation, the quality of the first amv doesn't matter. however, the creator will hopefully improve from the review the opinion giver leaves.

Just as AD says, the point of the .org is to datalog as many AMVs as it can whether they be good or bad. Sure people don't donate, but as Phade has explicitely said, we have 500 GB of space and are not in trouble yet.

Don't make assumptions about the server and the purpose of the site. It's Phade's job to handle such things. Just be a responsible member of the community and feel free to upload what you want (within the rules).

That's how it goes until he says otherwise.

Forcing people to have a certian postcount doesn't seem so great. If anything it would probably just increase the amount of forum spam.

A year seems far to long to force someone to wait, in fact the present waiting period, for all appearences, seems fair. Besides even if you force someone to wait longer it gives no guarentee that they'll produce better quality AMVs.

i agree despite the fact i'm nearly one.but i got space for only one amv in my ftp so i choose the better one
