Kevin Caldwell? I asked about him on the forums once, and I got the answer I wanted with no abuse or unfriendliness whatsoever.flint_the_dwarf wrote:I made the mistake of asking about KC waaaay back when, and I almost didn't come back.

You got lucky. My thread went for about two or three pages, with about four posts that weren't flames.Scintilla wrote:Kevin Caldwell? Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

Yeah but I figured shit out myself. Thats the difference. People are lazy fucks when it comes to figuring shit out on their own. They want shit handed to them, and then bitch about it when its not given to them in 2 minutes after their post. I find this is most prevalent in the Video Help section, where everything is an open question to a newb. "How does Premiere work?" "How do I do this and that effect?" "Why can't I see my effect on the timeline?" "How do I make teh next u4ria?" You know what kids? Learn for your damn selves, google perhaps, go with something easier, or don't get upset when you don't get the 10 page answer you're looking for.Fungie½ wrote:Don't make fun of new people, because you were new once too.

Danny, I agree with you in that people should figure stuff out for themselves. That's what I did too. But why should we give people a hard time for being lazy (not saying that's a good thing)? I doubt it'll help them at all, it'll just either get them pissed so they rant and do plenty of childish things or ashamed to the point where they leave. Yes, there are some that will get pissed or ashamed and then figure it out for themselves, but not many. It's not hard to help people.Dannywilson wrote:Yeah but I figured shit out myself. I see what you mean but that's why we have a lot of people to help. We've also got those people that put guides in their sigs, which probably one or two noobs see. My point is that if you're tired of helping so many people, you don't need to bitch at the ones that ask questions that have been repeated. Let those who want to help do all the helping. And when they get tired, hopefully there will be more to help. And if there are no more, then that person doesn't get helped. It shouldn't affect anyone else.Dannywilson wrote:No, it's not, but it is hard to help ALOT OF PEOPLE, especially when they're all asking the same question.flint_the_dwarf wrote:It's not hard to help people.

Danny, I see your point exactly, and I think you see my point exactly. Sure, there are more people. Sure, there will always be noobs. Sure, we shouldn't harass/jeer them, but some things are just too idiotic to understand. One such thing would be the "Can I join a studio?" thread? You can make your own studio. If you're looking for more people, ask if others if they want to join.
You know what, I think it would be superb if the people who posted the "Can I join a studio?" threads all formed a singular studio. Seriously, that would be fucking awesome. I doubt it would happen, though, but who knows. My suspicion is that they want to be grouped with some big name editor (Me joining RVP
) so their name will become a little more prevolent.
As for asking questions on how to make effects, how to use Premiere, how to download videos...in theory, you should be able to figure most of this out on their own. Maybe not how to use Premiere and make effects, but definently how to navigate this site. Also, not everyone uses Premiere to make videos, and not all the effects in videos can be done in Premiere. More often than not, the "effects" are a combination of effects, to which a lot of time and effort have gone into. But (And this is a generalization, I know) for the more part, people just want an easy Click-N-Drag way to do them, and when they don't get it, or find out how involved it is, they get upset or disinterested.
I guess you could say the message I had in mind when I created this thread was "Read the forum some before you make your thread," but now it's more "You need to take time to learn and do things for yourself." This isn't limited to newbies, either. I have seen many a senior member get their knickers in a square knot when someone doesn't post a link to their video in the Announcements forum. I mean, sure, it's a common courtesy, but is it that hard to go to the Super Search and find it, if you're really interested? I don't think it is.
