Need help with beat sync

I am attempting to make a video in Premiere, and want the video to flicker between 2 clips to the drum beat as the beat picks up. However its too fast for me to just mess with the video till it looks right, like I normally do. I was wondering if any of you have some good techniques for syncing the video and music in such situations.

listen to that part of the song over and over again until you can count the exact number of beats. Then find out how long the section of the song is. Then, zoom in and use the razor tool to remove frames in between beats. You should wind up with half the number of frames you had originally. (eg. just say its a 30 frame section and there are 15 beats to synch... you wind up with 15 frames) and then, create a new color matte (File > New > Color Matte) make it whit, and position it on the video track UNDER the cut frames. Adjust it so its the same length.

The problem is that the drum beat speeds up, so I can't just have it switch every X frames. I'll start out with a switch every 4th frame or so, and end up doing switching every other frame by the end of the clip.

Can't you line up the flashes with the spikes in the waveform in the Audio track? Or just drag the cursor in the Timeline from frame to frame until you hear the beginning of the drum hit, then put the flash on that frame?

I've found out that in these situations what works better is just the ol' trial and error. Try various combinations until you get something that looks alright... in any case, being the drum roll so fast as you say, even if it's a frame or two off synch nobody will notice: it's just too fast

Arrow keys are your friend. When working with videos, I hardly ever use the mouse for audio any more...
The right arrow key goes forward frame by frame, the left, backward.

Alsp, the spacebar starts and stops your video(plays it at normal speed). I think "L" plays your video backwards, but.. Meh. Who really needs that?

Anyway, it may seem like common knowledge to use arrow keys but hey, I never knew rubber bands existed until someone told me... =\
