Matcing the music to the animation
Just curious, how important is it to match the animation style with the music. In my day i've seen a lot of good FLCL rock videos even though it's only 6 eps b/c the animation matches the style. Good Bebop ones tend to be humorous or melancholy because those are the overriding themes of the series, just as Eva ones tend to be funny or action packed (or fanservice). If you want a great example of what I mean, watch Pearl Jam's "Do the Evolution" music video, the animation style matches the music the best I have ever seen. Any comments?

matching the music style to the animation isn't necessary. you can be original and take an anime in a completely different direction. example: vicbond007's requiem for excel. i'm sure there are lots of other good ones that have nontraditional anime-music pairings out there too.
however, matching the music style to the animation is a safe choice to get more hits if you dont have the popularity of vicbond and the like.

I usually pick a song before i have a source in mind for it. The music will be completely used after all, while the source footage is going to be only a percent. With that in mind it's the images of the show that matter. True there are overall theams to many shows and thats what people play off of. But there are those 30 odd scenes in the insane action filled that are dramatic.

This used to be the way videos were done, but basically now you whip up a shitload of effects in AfterEffects and just throw in whatever random frames of anime you have lying around. It's the wave of the future! 8)
Kidding - you can make videos that use anime clips timed to the music, but it will get you labeled a plebe n00b, and you'll never get respect. So. The choice is yours.

Anyway, I just felt like being a smartass this morning; pay me no mind.

Well, maybe I'll just slop a bunch of shit I did in After Effects together just to show you how badly awry it can go

Oh wait, that's what I did for my NES track

Yeah, my time zone is different from the board's, or...something. See, I'm a sad, pathetic geek and surf the net while the iron heats up in the morning. I believe that was one of my AM posts.Rozard wrote:This morning?SarahtheBoring wrote:Yyyyyyyyyeaaah, you can keep thinking that.
