If you want to talk about Industrial Emo then maybe you should check out "Work for Love" or "With Sympathy" by Ministry.kthulhu wrote:the creator of industrial emo.
The reasons Reznor has succeded where other Indutrial acts failed are:
A. He is the driving force of the band, Reznor makes all the calls. Thus avoiding the break-ups, member changes, & conflicts. Examples- KMFDM, Pigface, and Ministry have all broken up o lost/gained members several times.
B. Made lyrics the focal point of his music and focused more on melody where as Ministry, KMFDM and others used harsh elctronic beats (lacking the emotion of NIN's music)

Heh..heh...what about Orgy? I haven't heard anything by NIN so I can't comment. Also, what about Deadsy, whose lead singer is Cher's son?(how's that for strange...well, maybe) Orgy has their 3rd cd due out Jan. 27th (yep after 3 years, 2 of which was complete silence)
btw...how come most of these music threads always seem to break down into "my music/metal is more obscure and less known than yours and is imeadiately a thousand times better than any of those corporate mainstream whores because of it" ? Just wondering. really. Not all mainstream music is bad.
/sarcasm (wonder if anyone was under that? hmmmm....)

Yep, NIN sucks. Trying to compare them with groups like Ministry and KMFDM, especially saying that NIN is better then them, is going way too far in my opinion. Sure those bands have suffered break ups and such, but so what? I'd rather have a band the collaberation of several talented members as opposed to one guy dictating pretty much everything. And as for their harsh electronic beats not conveying emotion....well, that makes no sense to me whatsoever since it conveys emotion just as well, just different emotions, as opposed to Trents message of "oh, life sucks, people suck, everything sucks. I think I'll go write depressing poetry now". To quote Dennis Miller, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Trent is still a wuss, in my book, and he will always be a wuss. ALWAYS.
Now, Raymond Watts, he can move you. Listen to "Save Me". Mellow, sad, and lamenting, without the pussy, near-tears sound Trent would go for.
Still, all of this is irrelevant, really. There shouldn't be in-fighting among the rivetheads, industrial enthusiasts, and gothy types. I apologize for starting this little tussle - I must've had a bad day or something.

Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

Some of NIN songs are good, like Dead Souls (from The Crow ST) Just Like You Imagined and Closer, but it all sounds pretty much the same anyway.
