Local means the video is hosted on the Donut, or the Org's own server.

Direct means that the link points directly to the video, and it's on someone else's site.

Indirect means that the link points to a page where a link to the actual video can be found.

local is the way to go usually (for most beginners)- the org will host your vids. just follow the rules and enjoy free hosting (by the way you should donate some $). Indirect is if you have your own website you'd like people to visit. Direct will directly download the vid, but in my experience these tend to be slow and shitty. not recommended for people to use, but sometimes the only way to get a good vid.

Geez, when did direct links develop such a bad reputation? I just use them because I figure people won't be interested in seeing my website if they've already seen my profile and video info, so I bypass the main page and go straight to the video.

i think he means local vs. direct. actually i try to dl from direct/indirect because my dl manager still doesnt work with local downloads
