I was on the side with 8.

Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

Good god, I swore I was gonna stay away from this thread...
I thought what Minnie did in taking bets on how long MJ and Tutter's relationship would last was very trollish, but honestly, I've seen worse in my time here. If he was just making a point about online relationships not working, then fine, because he's entitled to his opinion. I think it was when he attached real people, their lives, and their emotions to that opinion (rather than just making a general point) was where he crossed the line.
No, it's not right to take bets on whether someone's relationship'll work just because you have a certain opinion of them. To try and say 'it's just a bet, don't get so worked up over it' is just hiding the apparent intent of the thread. Calling Tutter a airheaded blonde (I believe that was the phrase, I don't feel like going to check) and MJ desperate certainly constituted an attack which you based your bet off of, Minnie. And for that, you were wrong. There's very often more going on than what you think, and the narrow opinion you took of the situation makes thinking you had other, less innocent reasons for making the post very believable. (I'll leave it at that on that subject. Moving on...)
But honestly people, what do you want the Mods to do? Minnie was in the wrong for making the thread. The Mods locked the thread he made about it, (both times if I'm not mistaken) and left a message that got the point across well enough that he didn't make another. And they locked it within a minute of it starting, too. I wouldn't call that being 'lazy' or incompetent, of any of the other words thrown around thus far.
I'm sure Minnie is aware that the sort of thread he made will probably end the same way as the ones he made today. Such being the case, that should be it. If he doesn't behave like a troll anymore, then there's no problem. If he persists, then the proper action will be taken. It's simple.
It doesn't matter if you don't like him, Jace, you don't have to. But just because he rubs you the wrong was sometimes (all the time, whichever) isn't grounds for the mods to be following him around with a cattle prod, watching over him. Everyone should get more than one shot, because as tons of people have said in this thread, if that wasn't the case then a whole lot of people wouldn't be here right now. You're allowed to disagree with what Minnie says, and what he does. It's a forum, the whole point is to express your viewpoints. And oftentimes people don't agree. There's a difference between disagreement/not liking someone, and someone causing complete havoc on the forum.
If this meant so much to you, you would either IM, PM, or e-mail Phade directly about this. To post it in the forum, in General Off Topic no less (rather than site suggestions), suggests that you're looking for other people to back you in this and say 'Yea, down with Minnie' and that because enough people say something, the mods'll give over to what you want. It's the equivalent of mob rule, and I don't think I need to tell you how that's not a good precedent to be setting. If mob rule was the precedent, SpPanda would've never been banned, as well as Theocide, Temjin, Mr. Bucket, and a few others I'm forgetting. If mob rule was the precedent, WOT would never get pruned, post counts would still be on profiles, sig pics would be any size you wanted, avatars would be the same, we'd have a legion of spammers as mods, about 5 more useless forum sections (rather than things like video help & audio help), along with a long list of other crap brought up by a lot of people in the past 2 years that me in my tired state can't remember.
Jace, if you were really just making a point about how the Mods should do something about the people you view as disruptive then you shouldn't have thrown names around, and you shouldn't have posted it here. You could have simply used examples, or went about it without naming names (most people would understand what you were talking about anyway). By throwing names into it, you made it personal, not a general opinion of what the Mods should do. And in doing so you did nearly the exact same thing Minnie wrong did earlier today; in other words you're behaving no better than him. If you hate him so much you would try and stand above the things that he's doing/done wrong, rather than repeating them.
(I would like to say for the record that I can't think of anyone I hate out of the people who frequent this forum currently, Minnie and motemote included. I simply haven't been around them long enough to pass judgement on what kind of people they are. So anything I said to either of you was not meant to be taken as a personal attack, it was simply my view of what is, void of any type of dislike or loyalty to anyone.)
I know at least a few of you were around here at least 6 months ago. Now, to me, on a comparative level, things are pretty fucking quiet and collected now. Things are far more well in hand now than they were back then. And this forum is like a different planet compared to about a year ago when a bunch of people (infamous and not) were running amock here. And it didn't change just because everyone decided to be nice and courteous to one another overnight either (although I am noticing more courtesy and an effort towards it here, and I for one am glad to see it. The spirit of what you were trying to get across with this thread isn't lost on me Jace, but I had to make my point anyway), most of it is because of what Phade and the Mods are doing. And they really do more than a lot of us seem to notice. And they are, believe it or not, doing a damn good job of running this place.
And you know what they get for it? A rash of shit. I can't even begin to count the number of threads, posts, sigs, and other crap that I've seen saying 'fuck phade' this 'the mods suck' that, and how people are gonna go elsewhere because they don't like how this forum was run. But Phade and the Mods went about doing what they had to, to make this place better for all of us. People ranted about sig size when that came about, and recently they had a fit about only being able to have two images stacked on top of each other. All the while not seeming to realize that all this is being done to make the site more readable and easier to explore without having a lot of what, in the end, is meaningless clutter.
Pretty much anything done in regards to links, pictures, fixing multiple strings of letters that break the forum, rules...it's all done to make this place better. People need to realize that, and fucking appreciate it for a change. And appreciate what the Mods and Phade do accomplish, rather than what you think they don't. This place isn't a hellhole, and there really isn't a reason to complain about the way things are being handled. Under different circumstances, if something was terribly wrong, I could understand getting upset. But not with this. Things are dealt with, and as long as things continue to get better, or stay in their present state, I don't believe anyone has a right to fucking complain.
Period.
