That sounds good. The only thing you have to watch out for is that some of the converters give you an old avi file that may not be compatible with VirtualDub - you'll just have to do trial and error for that (mostly it's the old codecs). But once you have it to avi, you should be able to open it in Vdub and play with the filters. Just be careful when you save your video (or clip) - huffyuv will give you a large nice looking file that you can edit with, xvid gives you the best output for the video (lots of settings you can play around with) - don't mix the two up. You don't want to edit with xvid or divx, those are only for the final video. For the filters you mainly play with deinterlace (if your footage has odd horizontal lines in it when you maximize - means you didn't remove interlacing when you ripped it), smooth - which gets rid of the fuzz, and there's the cropping that lets you cut off edges and such (you have to keep it in factors of 4 if you're saving to huffyuv). Just get your file to avi and play with it - the guides tell more about compression settings.

ok
hmm.. ok... this is kinda confusing. So what screen is what? It shows my video in 2 different screens. I am guessing 1 is for the editing i did, and what it looks like now, but which one?

The one on the left is what your file looks like now. The one on the right is what it looks like after the filters are applied (when you save the file - you'll see the difference if you've compressed it or smoothed it.) And when you add the smooth filter (if you do that), checkmark the 'preview' and that will let you know what it will look like after you smooth it - you can pick how much smoothing you want to do. For a good dvd I usually stay below 6, for dbz I sometimes go up to 20, it just depends on the scenes you're using.
