I FOUND MANGA IN STRATFORD O.o

Post by Moonlight Soldier » Thu Oct 09, 2003 9:00 pm

Ya...weird eh? I went to see the Taming of the Shrew (very cool btw) and on the bus I was talking about Naruto with my one friend...and we were saying how weird it would be to find Anime in Stratford..which led to some weird quotations of old english applied to anime...but anyways...

I go into this book store called "The Book Vault" which carried a lot of surprise surprise Shakespearerian and Litterary Canon type novels...then my friend Jordan pulls me over to the back of the store...

WALL TO WALL MANGA!!! I WAS IN MY GLORY!!! I stood there conversing with the manager for about 10 minutes discussing various books...before I bought 70$ worth of stuff....also he taught me how to wrap them in plastic to keep them in better condition...

BTW I bought Sailor Moon Stars Vol. 1 *i have the whole series now ^^) and Wish Vol. 2-4 *also the whole series*

So tell me people...where was the last place you expected to find some anime/manga? Just curious...share your tales of joy ^_^

Not too on topic but the town I grew up in is named Stratford (complete with the Shakespear Theatre). I think there's only 3 Stratfords, or 3 Shakespear theaters in the world, I forget which.

But yeah, finding Manga is awsome. nice find. 8)

well i found manga at a place that just didn't seem right. the store i think was called Aldas or something like that. but anyway they had a small section right next to the candy aisle which also had surprise pocky. not bad for a third rate gorcery store.

I found some Beyblade manga here... It's almost getting to the point where I'm actually considering buying it. I really need to find someone who imports it (since I don't really want to do it myself). *sobs*

I just had my happy manga experience a few hours ago... The closest stores with manga are 45 minutes away. But, I went to Sam Goody in Batavia, 15 minutes away, and, hiding in the back of the store next to the porn, was a single copy of FAKE 3... Now if only they would get Gravitation 2...

I live near Cambridge publication library. It has to have at least one copy of every book that is published.

I'll tell you where I didn't find Manga! The city of Pittsburgh is the second largest in the state of Pennsylvania but it has not one manga store, and the one big comic store in the city (conveniently a block away from the greyhound station if you're ever passing through) doesn't carry manga! On the other hand, Erie PA and State College PA both have decent manga selections, and the Herndon/Fairfax area of Virginia has like SIX manga stores of which the best seems to be Phoenix Comics on Elden street, although Anime Pavillion in Falls Church has a better selection of DVDs. Also, surprisingly, Waldenbooks seems to have made a marketing decision to start having a big manga selection, and of course Borders has some things. Barnes and Noble's sucks though.
