pending on context and whether its a short ne or longer nee it can mean different things....with different words...
It's why you really gotto live in Japan for the best education in the language.
I started learning it in college through Yale's way of teaching it.. based upon Jorden sensee's coursework. I always started memorizing from the end and going back. Just because how the sentence structure is different, it made it easier for my feeble american mind.
And dude, that's not a huge passage at all, this is a picture of what I had to memorize every morning in the beginner course way back when. Although, I did have motivation, I got to converse with my hot TA from Japan.
AND, we had to memorize and be able to write 10 kanji each day so we could do the grammar homework that we had to write in Kanji.

It's why you really gotto live in Japan for the best education in the language.

You know, you started that post off pretty well. I was interested in reading all those things I have read before. Immersion is a great technique. But then you get into all that comparison shit...
