Do you own an anime or game OST?

I think you have good ideas that are just never going to work. People will leech and keep those, and find the rest on P2P. You may cover your ass by saying you'll encourage people to buy the CDs, but frankly, I seriously doubt anyone will.
The question is not about forcing anyone to donate, it's about the realism of thinking that anyone is going to buy what they're already getting for free on your site.

That's true though...I mean, depending on who you are especially...Take me for example...I have a wonderful little habbit of copying any VHS of anime that I rent....but then I will still endeavour to buy the actual dvd's (I just bought X and Tokyo Babylon today!!! YAY!!!)...whereas if I make copies for some of my other friends...they are less likely to actually want to go and buy the aforementioned dvd's if they already have copies...SarahTheBoring wrote:The question is not about forcing anyone to donate, it's about the realism of thinking that anyone is going to buy what they're already getting for free on your site.
Since it's over the internet, your site could really have issues with people doing that. It's not like an actual store where you can sample music and not take it home with you...since you're downloading it people are just going to save what they and search for the remaining tracks.
Why not try to encrypt the music or something so you can't actually save the file? That might work..
I have the Slayer's soundtrack...though I'm skeptical of this "ripping" word...
But overall your site sounds like a cool idea...if only there was not so many dishonest people who wouldn't take advantage of it....

I know there are people who would download the files and keep them, ut as I said before, there's only five tracks per disc per OST available, and I speak from expirence that it is VERY hard to find every song on so-and-so OST from P2P.
It's also a Tripod site, so the bandwidth for downloading the music sucks, anyway.

Yes, but this is to expand your horizons. Like I said before(in the long reply) if you haven't watched AA anime or game, you're not going to want to buy the OST for AA unless you sample the music first.Chaos Angel wrote:Don't people ALREADY get to sample the soundtrack when they play the game in the first place?
And I'm not linking to EVERY song, motemote, only 5 tracks per disc per OST.
I understand that that's a disadvantage for OSTs with only one disc and few tracks, but I'd like it to be asteady rule, and since most OSTs have more than 10 tracks, I think it's a minor con against my plan.

well sorry about the late response ... i haven't checked this thread since i posted here. PM me and we'll work something out.SQ wrote:Now, I don't have the .hack//liminality soundtrack. Since everyone is claiming that I'm going to steal said OST, I'll give you the donating instructions(IF YOU WANT TO DONATE) here.Propyro wrote:hack//sign OST and .hack//liminality sound track.
Email me (Q_mun@hotmail.com) the name of your OST(.hack//Liminality), with the tracklisting(if you can translate it).
If You can, also email me, attached, 5 tracks. I really don't care what the bitrate or format of it is, it can be .rm 32kb/s for all I care. All I want is 5 of your favorie tracks per disc per CD.
If you cannot email the tracks, we can either arrange for a time to transfer the files over IM, or I can give you a username and temporary password to upload the songs directly.
