I doubt the literal accuracy of the translation very much, but I think the gist of it comes through.)

Since Smurfette was made in a lab, my guess is Smurfs grow by asexual reproduction, like bacteria, planarians, and Mogwai from the movie Gremlins.

I seem to recall one ep where Baby Smurf learned to speak or grew up or something bizarre like that... it can only happen once in a blue moon, I remember that much.

Hmm... I've never checked, but I'm pretty sure there were baby Smurfs (aside from Baby Smurf).

What I meant to say was more like:

"My holy ass, look at the Smurfs in bad french comics [BD = bande dessinée] magazine. Why was Smurfette the only female Smurf in the entire fuckin' Smurf village? Before the arrival of Smurfette, did the Smurfs jerk themselves off? Does she screw all the Smurfs or only Papa Smurf and his friends? How did the Smurfs get born without female Smurfs? So, the Smurfs are really stupid."

And just for the record, I am old enough to remember watching the Smurfs when they were originally on TV. The show really jumped the shark in its later years, not that it was all that great to begin with, but I guess any show can look good to a kid when it's up against Jem and the Punky Brewster cartoon.
