Kishimoto Masashi is the creator of Naruto. Episode 51 ended with Volume 10 Chapter 89 of the manga. According to Toriyama's World, it is licensed by Viz.

Personally I think Viz should also get ahold of Naruto the anime. They are very well adapted at producing long animes. Well I take that back I think ADV would probably do a better job at dubbing it than Viz.

Well, I'll be able to just continue watching it on TV Tokyo once I get back to Japan in November, so dubs isn't a problem for me. However, I'll probably TiVo it, so I can make vids outta footage.

Naruto rocks.

yes, the manga runs in Shonen Jump, both the japanese and the american version. It and One Piece are it's most popular series.

As for it's location, I believe it's an alternate universe. It kinda blends both ancient japan and modern japan. I mean, they still operate under daimyo and stuff but have modern conveniences like electricity.
Reality is for people who lack imagination.

I read an interveiw with Masashi somewhere where he told of their world, but I can't remember where it is. I found it interesting that he gave them TV's, VCR's and air conditioners, but their world contains no gunpowder.

in case no one went to those links that were posted earlier in this topic, the main story line for naruto is concentrated around Naruto (the main character)
by the way, i also read it in Shonen Jump monthly
so so far, i see the story is that about 12 years prior, the village where naruto lives was attacked by a demon fox with 9 tails, the village leader defeated the fox by using a spell that bound the fox into the body of naruto when he was born (he was a sacrifice) since then, naruto has been raised in the village, but instead of being praised as a hero for his sacrifice, he was hated by the adult villagers, and that hatred stread to the children who don't even know his past. so with almost everyone hating naruto, he tries to make the best of it by going through with his education as a ninja. slowly the power of the demon fox begins to show and he becomes more and more powerful. Naruto's goal so far is to become the village leader to gain the respect of the village that he never had.

very nice story, right up my alley, i seem to be drawn to the orphan type serieses
If you're reading this, you've gone too far...PREPARE FOR RETRIBUTION!!
Don't judge an AMV by it's anime.. u nooB ;D

:D I can safely say that Naruto is easily becoming a favorite of mine!!!! I love the drawings. Haven't really seen a great deal of the anime,'except from in the amv's, but i've been keeping up with the manga (and from what i've seen/ heard of so far, the anime seems to be in line with the manga. OH GOOD!!! ). I just read up to the latest updated chapter (well, that i can get to!) chap. 188. You can find manga scans of naruto from chap. 1-188 on http://groups.msn.com/narutomanga, in case ur interested ( and you don't have to DOWNLOAD the chapters! Dunno 'bout anyone else, but i was surprised to find that. :o ). It's a really great place to read the stuff ( I think that the manga is updated every two weeks, more or less, but don't trust me in that!). Check it out if you wanna get some sorta picture of the whole thing, or just to read it. :P Hope you guys find this useful.
