But he's capturing... from DVD's !!! Why doesnt he just rip them?

I usually capture because I take short segments. Ripping takes too long for my tastes, especially when what I want is only for a minute or two from a 15 minute long VOB file which would take an hour to rip/encode on my computer just so I can edit and re-encode again. I don't do this for a living, and I like to make the most of my free time when I edit (i.e using my computer instead of letting it sit idle for hours ripping DVD's). If I was stuck with only ripping footage, I doubt I'd do this very often.

Thanks for the filter link, dd, I'll check it out. Might come in handy with some other DVD's.
Dont be a smartass.... did you know that using SmartRipper, you can take sections of the episodes, and it in fact takes longer to set up and perform a capture than it does to rip DVDs? If you're going to analogue capture a DVD, don't complain about the quality loss. Its your own fault. I used to capture, but I got a DVD Rom and never looked back. And if its price you're worried about? Do some goddamm research, DVD ROMS are cheap as these days. Less than 60 bucks Australian.

My question wasn't about quality loss. It was about color bleeding on Trigun R1's. I'm fine with the quality I usually get from capturing.

Sorry, double post AND shameless plug:

If you wanna see the bleed (or "rainbowing") I was talking about, you can check out my Trigun vid. It's apparent in several scenes.

Ah its alright. I do know what you're on about, its just...i scratch my head and wonder "why" when I see people say theyd rather capture than rip. Sorry if I was a bit harsh.

No biggie. Being the amatuer that I am, I really don't notice the quality loss when I capture, at least not to the point that it freaks me. When I upgrade my system I'll probably start ripping, but I haven't gotten any complaints about video quality since my first AMV :) Now if I could only download a "kick-ass AMV editing skillz" filter.

Sign me up for one of them while you're at it. You know, maybe we could have a word to AD or something about putting a "1337 editing skillz" filter in the next AMVApp or some shit.

Or maybe not.

Wah, you want an awesome video, download Koops "Euphoria" from here:

It kicks so much ass, man!!!

I don't think there's a member here who hasn't seen that vid and wholeheartedly agrees that it does, indeed, kick ass.

Question about Trigun DVD's

Post by CHWOODYARD » Mon Oct 06, 2003 3:40 pm

I ripped the entire series of R1 Trigun onto my computer and had absolutely no noticable problem with color bleeding.

In addition, if I wanted a certain section of footage that I want to edit, I would rip that section of vob onto my computer. With a Trigun amv that I recently made I wasn't sure of what I wanted and ripped the entire series and searched for what I needed to edit.

(on a side note) I wish I Adobe After Effects to make a video as good as Koop's Euphoria.
Hell is something that parents made up to scare kids, like the Boogie Man or........Micheal Jackson.

I dont think he used After Effects. Someone told me (i don't know how serious they were) that he used some crappy editor + MSPaint. Its just his skill as an editor made the best of it.
