what does "OAV" mean?

ive heard the term OAV used a lot (or sometimes OVA) but i dont know what it means. what exactly is it?

OVA or OAV means Original Video Animation.

More or less a long movie cut up into little TV friendly segments.

Original Animated Video (or Original Video Animation). Sometimes they're higher quality independent stories based off series (like Love Hina Again), and sometimes they're completely independent (like FLCL or Hoshi no Koe).

Great Question, i was gonna ask the same thing, but u got to it first. Another question, y doesnt OVA's or OAV's have english dubbing, i thnk its because it was just imported here in the US and they only had time to sub title it, i dont kno, does anyone kno...

If they get licensed, they get dubbed. FLCL's dubbed, for example.

Yeah i guess, but Love Hina Again and the spring special wasnt dubbed, too bad; but i dont mind reading the sub title, the voices are better in japanese anyways, dont u guys agree.

LH Again came out like a week ago. At least volume 1 did, i don't know if all of it ison one DVD or if it's on multiple volumes as OVA's typicaly are.
