Hello.I'm sorry to take a topic for my question
But...i ve ripped dvd's and alway the same destroying interlaced problems
I used smart ripper and than flaskmpeg to get into divX.
With this divX i edit it in adobe premiere to get my music vid..
after exporting this thing into divX again...my music vid has interlaced probs.
All i wanna know is: (i ve read the giude,but it is too complex for me :8 my english isn#t that good)
- What program shall i download and what to do with it in order:
please write it down like this:
1first smart ripper than that...with that thing you can edit it in adobe and in adobe you have to export like this....can someone help me without saying"look at these giude".... -.-

I haven't used smartripper, but don't save your clips to divx - only use that for the final compression of your video (though xvid is better for this). Hufyuv is the best codec to use for compressing your clips (takes up more space, though) - and you can compress it to xvid (or divx) after the final video is done if you use VirtualDub.

If you use avisynth or VirtualDub I can help you get rid of interlacing, but I don't know about smartripper.

AM is right, Premiere and DivX mix like Lebkuchen and Senf. FlaskMPEG <u>might</u> have deinterlacing options, but I have not used it in a very long time. We normally use either VirtualDub or avisynth as AM stated to eliminate deinterlacing. Plus- if you are using your German (forget your region code) DVDs, they are likely PAL instead of NTSC, and you will face different issues with interlacing and frame rates than we do. :-/

I use DVDx 1.2 and convert them directly to Divx 5.0.5 for AiST Extreme 4.0 doesnt understand Xvid at all!

Interlacing is not an option in DVDx, you get what ever is on the DVD Itself.

Realistically he should not be converting to DivX at all for editing. MJPEG of HuffYUV or something else that includes all the frames is much better for accuracy.

Interlacing is not an option in DVDx, you get what ever is on the DVD Itself.

Which mean that if there is interlacing on the disc (which there apparently is, and is on the vast majority of DVDs except for a limited number that are actually native progressive) there will still be an interlacing problem. His process is not creating the interlacing problem- it just does not eliminate the interlacing problem (which from what you have said, DVDx does not either).

SmartRipper does exactly what it is supposed to- decrypts and extracts the data (.VOB files, etc) from the DVD and copies it to the hard drive. It is apparently doing that just fine- it is just that the rest of his process does not address the interlacing issue.

There's still the easy 'after-the-fact' solution. Run the avi vid through VirtualDub and use the 'deinterlace' filter - and save the clips in hufyuv in the future (if possible).

DVDDecryptor is pretty straightforward (just use it in 'file' mode), and you can copy the example scripts from the guide right into your avisynth script (for reverse telecine to get rid of interlacing before you make the clips) - use DVD2AVI to save the project (the vob you get from dvddecryptor) and open the avisynth script in VirtualDub - you can get your clips in hufyuv, no interlacing, and some nice little filters for any other problems with the source footage. If you have trouble with the guides on avisynth script and want help with the basics, PM me.

http://babelfish.altavista.com/ use this to do a basic translation of the guides. You need to use DVD2AVI and Avisynth after you rip to Inverse Telecine (actually removing the interlaced frames).
