Anime characters are lousy gunfighters compared to Hong Kong

Post by Madzack » Thu Oct 02, 2003 7:03 am

Anime gunfighters are lousy. I wish to compare them to Hong Kong movie characters.

You see, you give an anime character a gun and they only stand there, shooting. Give one to a Hong Kong movie character and the whole warehouse of baddies is cleared within minutes with his/er dazzling moves. I mean, these guys move around using guns like a frigging shuriken-shooter.

And why do anime characters insist on shooting with only one gun? The Hong Kong movie industry invented and perfected the two guns akimbo technique onscreen. Why can't they learn from that?

For the sake of realism? Oh, please. Anime is already unrealistic in a fantasy kind of way. I'm sure they can do better than just standing there like a sissypuss with a gun in their hands in their own world.

Vash, Alucard, Dante, Rally Vincent, Mireille, Kirika, all of you. Go shoot yourself, you lousy gunmen, you. You got nothing on Chow Yun Fat, Tony Leung, E-Kin Cheng etc.

It's not Chow Yun Fat, the characters name (in the move I know most) is Tequila and I forget his character name in A Better Tomorrow 1 and 2. All character by John Woo -- nut for violence.

bull fucking shit ... both of them used two guns. And Dante pwns mortal ass ... if he dosn't turn you into a fucking leaky peice of meat he'll smack you in the eye with a big fucking sword, or worse ... devil triger your ass.

Alucard ... same thing, less the sword. Sorry but your meager, mortal gun men are no match for those two.

Also, alucard dosn't moce around a lot when he fights because he dosn't have to. Whatever you do to him is more or less an exercise in futility. even if you kill him he gets up and kicks your ass till you can floss your teeth with his boot laces.

Dante ... he moves as much as you wast him to. and he flies ... and makes people ahppy with magical .45 kisses from the sky ...

Alright so I pull your leg with Dante, he's quite OK.

I mention Alucard 'cos all he does is stand, pose, gloat, shoot. Like all the other anime characters. Try proving me wrong why he is so different from all other who hold their guns.

I guess I am drunk on Equilibrium High. After seeing John Preston reloading his two guns with ammo from his sleeves, I'll never see any other gun-themed anime.

I do have issues with the gun-wielding women in anime though. Michelle Yeoh, Karen Mok, Vicki Zhao or any other HK actress can cap their asses with her l33t gun skills!! HK women rul3z!!!

PS: Can I add Sanzo of Saiyuki to my list?

oh i know ... thats all he dose ... why? read my last post ... he dosn't need to do any fancy moves ... the fact that he even moves when he fights anderson should be a treat enough ... read my other post ...

well....gunsmith cats (since you mentioned Rally) is supposed to be based in real life...COMPLETELY. I mean it takes place in some city in the US...i dont remember where, just the billboard that says (I am an american...or something like that) so thusly she uses techniques that 1. are possible by humans and 2. are real...just like her guns. Alucards guns arent even real...cept the ones they made BECAUSE of the show --; Yeah anime is unrealistic but why not try to keep it as realistic as possible with the aspects that dont change the story? In real life, using two guns is actually a dumb-ass idea. Unless its like 2 mac11's or 10's....thats cuz u dont gotta aim with them --; But if your using a handgun such as a glock 26 or a beretta or anything like that...you do NOT wanna use two of them. Twin pistols might look cool but realistically thats all they do. 1. You cannot aim good....at all. 2. truly, if they were high powered such as a smaller gun (glock 26 or even a bigger gun such as a desert eagle) you have a high chance of breaking a bone or completely ripping it off. 3.You cant reload, in equilibriem however u spell it, he has magnetic bottoms on his clips so that they will stand up (in the hall scene before the end when he throws them in the middle of the room) and when he reloads with the clips in his sleeves, its just a small not-to-hard to make device which he put in them. Thats all, anime is TRYING to be as real as possible while keeping to their plot and time. So yeah they dont HAVE to just use 1 gun and be realistic about using it...they COULD do the whole, OMG WHAT A GAY GUN FIGHT CUZ ITS COMPLETELY FAKE thing that movies do such as "the matrix" and "equilibrium." But they want to still keep you in an area where its fairly realistic.

Actualy his first gun, the Hellsing .454 casull is a real gun, just that it's been a bit modified and/or exaggerated(sp?). However the jackal is a totaly ficticious gun, there is no such thing as a 13mm hand gun shell

and who cares if anime isn't very realistic ... it's somones fantasy ... don't like it, don't watch it.
