well, no major spoilers, you find out REAL early in Inu-yasha, so w/e
if you were in his place and had a choice, would you keep yr arm and just fight the way you are, or lose the arm and use tetsaiga?? you have toukijin if you so desire WITH the arm.

well i have only seen the most recent season on cn but i would have to sat the tokijin with arm all the way man. that swords power is insane. the windscar couldn't even kill kagura.

You make it sound like he lost his arm on purpose in order to use Tetsaiga (though I might be wrong). He lost his arm when Inuyasha cut it off so he had no choice but to not have one. He never expected to loose it, Im sure he would have never thought of loosing his arm in order to use it.
