A man purchased some rare cigars and had them insured against fire damage. He then smoked each one of them. After they were all gone he filed a claim for loss and damages to his cigar collection which was destroyed in "eight seperate small fires". Of course the insurance company denied his claim, so he took it to court. It was ruled that the insurance company did not specify smoking the cigars was not included in the policy, and something like 20 thousand dollars was awarded to the man.
The insurance company then filed suit against the man for intentional damage of insured property, and insurance fraud. He was fined for over 40 thousand dollars and lost.
