Yup I live in northern KC in the suburbs. And the city does look quite nice when they turn on all thsoe lights all over the plaza, its a really big deal. Lots of people come out to watch when they turn em on and hotel rooms with balconies there are always booked.Anyway, J-0080, you live in KC?
I think the drinking age at 21 is just fine. I know to many people here in HS who are already drinking and smoking and I really don't want to see more doing it sooner. It's so true.... should we have limits? Yes. Should they be overly strict? No. It's human nature to want what you can't have......
To true. I've met many people who give the "Well I go to church." Though ya, I find it amusing how many of them can rationalize some of the stuff they doWell, it was actually a decent church. My point was that many "Christians" aren't very Christian at all. But a lot of them were literate.
Indeed, limits that a person sets for themselves will be taken more seriously than ones forced upon them. Of course you also have to consider those without morals.I think limits are best when morally induced and not forced by government

I think Trident's point about lowering the drinking age, or at least mine, was that some people would be less likely to drink if it were legal. It's psychological and doesn't really apply to everyone, many people do just want to drink, but I think making it legal at 18 could have a lot of benefits.

and it could have equal consequences ... for every rational, intelegent, responsible person i wouldn't doubt it if there were 50 idiots, and no i'm not talking about jsut in the states, i mean every where.flint_the_dwarf wrote:It's psychological and doesn't really apply to everyone, many people do just want to drink, but I think making it legal at 18 could have a lot of benefits.

True, but those idiots get alcohol whether it's legal or illegal.Propyro wrote:and it could have equal consequences ... for every rational, intelegent, responsible person i wouldn't doubt it if there were 50 idiots, and no i'm not talking about jsut in the states, i mean every where.

As a side story, my ex-boyfriend, before he turned 21, used to go on rants about how much he was looking forward to a) being able to buy alcohol and b) getting a concealed weapons permit. Part of me wonders why I went out with the guy eventually (it was only for a month), considering the fact that I hate how he is when he gets drunk and that he likes to drink. If you can hold your alcohol, go ahead and drink. Drunks are just annoying. Plus--I think I've just tried the wrong types of alcohol, but I can't stand how it tastes.

yea that'll do it to you ... When i was little to shut me up my grandfather filled a small baby bottle with wine and gave it to me ... needless to say, it shut me up.Trident wrote:Plus--I think I've just tried the wrong types of alcohol, but I can't stand how it tastes.
But if you ever want to drink something that dosn't taste like death (Ie. straight Vodka, or Grappa) then try soemthing like Khulah. It's pretty much the only Liquer that i found can be drank straight and still taste good. Or borwn cows are good too. Milk and khulah taste's jsut like chocolate milk, and it's pretty light alcohol wise. Or you can go for a polish brown cow ... half Bailys irish cream, and half Khulah (i call them polish because my friend's polish, and he gave me one of these).
Both versions of the drink taste pretty good and aren't very heavy. But thats only if you ever feel like giving it another shot. just becasue a lot of people who drink are shit wads dosn't mean all of them are.
