Crazy Lawsuits!

Post by obh04 » Fri Sep 26, 2003 7:56 pm

There was a lady that was walking in a furniture store, and she tripped over a child. So she hurt herself and sued the store. She sued for about 1.3 million and guess what... she won! Now the shocker the child was hers! That is pretty bad.

The next one is about, a guy who is in his own yard and is shouting the neighbors dog with a BB gun. The dog gets on the other side of the fence and the guy follows the dog. So now the guys starts shooting the dog again. The dog now bits the guy! The guy sues the owner of the dog and guess what. The guy wins! That is crazy!

Now this guy is stupid. There is a guy who buys a motorhome, and as he is driving it he sets the cruize control. So he decides to leave his seat and go in the back. Now there is no one driving! Here is the surprize, the WINNEBAGO crashes! The owner of the WINNEBAGO got hurt in the crash. He sues, because the owner's manual does not have WARNING STATEMENTS saying that the WINNEBAGO can not drive itself. WINNEBAGO now recalled all of the owner's manuals and states that the WINNEBAGO can not drive itself. The guy got about 2.0 million dollars!
NOW THAT IS JUST STUPID THAT PEOPLE WIN MONEY FOR STUPID ACTS.

I got an e-mail from a friend. I just remember about it like yesterday and could not find the e-mail. So I GOOGLED about the lady who sued McDonalds about the hot coffee.

Upon deeper review, the McDonald's woman WAS in the right - the coffee gave her most sensitive areas third degree burns that required skin grafts and medical attention. She only sued when McDonald's refused to pay for her medical costs, and in the end they paid more in damages (even after the settlement was reduced) than they would've if they had just ponied up the dough for the surgery.

Coffee IS hot, of course, but it shouldn't give a person third degree burns if they spill it on themselves - especially, as is highly likely, if they are wearing clothes.
I'm out...

Also these lawsuits are 99% likely to be untrue. Why would you believe anything you read in an email anyways. The one about the cruise control I even read about in a book on urban legends.

in law class 2 years ago i remember hearing about this one.

A family went on vacation for 2 weeks, the day after they left somone broke into their home and ended up locking himself in their garage. When the family came back they found the guy in their garage and called the police. the guy sued the family for something dumb and won.

In the same unit we talked about a case where a cat burgler fell down somones stairs and almost broke his neck. He also sued and won.

theres something seriously wrong with canada's legal system if people are allowed to break into other peoples homes and sue for getting hurt in their victims homes because of their own stupidity.
