With the matrix - it's not inherently bad. But, frankly, once you get beyond the whole surface concept of 'real/unreal world', there's not much left... There was, however, enough for one movie.

Which is why, other than all the explosions and guns, I really sort of see no point in the sequels. Except, maybe, milking a financially sound franchise.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

I think a great twist would be that what the rebels believe to be the "real" world is still the matrix, and that the world was never taken over by robots. That it is actually other humans who put people into the Matrix.

Or that the "real" world really is real, just that humans on the surface control the robots and the Matrix.

I can't spell it right, but it's something like Sarif. And yeah, he kicks ass. If you played the game he makes an appearence and kicks some ass.
