The Spree (My AWA Pro vid)

Post by Dannywilson » Mon Sep 22, 2003 5:25 pm

This is the first time I'n my year and several months of making AMV's that I've released 2 in one day, and boy is it exciting. So exciting I'm about to fall asleeep here in my chair at work. Heh, now on with the show:
The video Description wrote:This video was so much fun to make. I was originally planning on just releasing it when I was done with it, but thanks to NME, who suggested I quote: "enter it in a fucking contest or something" I decided that I'd enter it in AWA Professional. I've loved MC Frontalot since I learned of him a year or so ago, but the notion to make a video to one of his songs didn't quite hit me until a couple months ago. The petty lawbreaking in "Crime Spree" just screamed Bebop to me, so I started with the DVD's I've had for over 2 years but never really wanted to use for a video (Hellsing, Trigun and Berserk sit with the same fate on my anime shelf... -_-;;). From there I threw them in premiere and just started scene scrollin', looking for clips to fit lyrics and ideas. I built the basic framework of the vid, but realized that alot of the humor Frontalot carries in his music didn't feel right in a Plain Jane video, so I started in on the sight gags. Since NME is also a big Frontalot fan, he and I brainstormed thought up the 18 different sight gags and text "Pop Culture Pop-ups" Some of them are subtle (Look who'se name is in the Kazaa window, what's written in the Premiere preview screen, and what's written on the "Bootleg Tape", etc.), while others are in your right in your face. Like Stephen Hawking says in the intro, watch it again with pauses after your first viewing to get a good laugh out of some of the quicker jokes.

Well, I'm going to be totally honest and say that it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. I guess just because it's been shown at AWA (Pro) doesn't automatically mean it's amazing.

Sorry, but that's how I saw it.

I didn't realize you were foreign either... that would have an impact on how you viewed the video, because alot of the jokes in the video rely on American/English-speaking pop culture references, and the ability to listen and decipher english quickly. Sorry you didn't get much out of it...

I would have gotten it/commented sooner, but some fuckers in the CIS department spilled bear on one of the routers or something and the entire campus network got fucked over for 2 or 3 days (not to mention some idiot cut through one of the main fiber optic cables last week)

Anyways, I'll check it out.
