The finches already exhibited these traits that they now posses, to one degree or another, before reproducing through several iterations weeding out the undesirable traits. Natural selection breeds out undesirable traits, but does it create new traits that did not exist before? Natural selection hinges on the desirable traits already being shared within a population before it can do its work. And can one really just scale up an idea that is appropiate under one set of conditions to a larger generalization?

How does one jump from single celled, to multi celled? How is the leap made from chemosynthesis to photosynthesis? There are large gaps to be bridged that can not be simply explained through the extension of natural selection over a longer period of time.
This was in reply to ssjvegita0609's post. :/

it doesn't, that's cuased by mutatuions.

there is no jump. the process takes near a billion years.

again, there is no leap.

there is no large gap. you're looking at it as if things should change in seconds. it took 4 billion years to get to us. can you imagine even how long it is to live a century?

But there's still some strange stuff...

Like, for example, the evolution of echolocation.
For this mechanism, you need specialized ears, specialized brains, and a specialyzed voicebox. All of these evolving simultaneously is a bit.... strange.
I like bugging people. Deal with it.

Didn't read the whole thread, but WTF?

When did Otohiko make odd posts about me? I thought it was only someone-someone.

And no, I'm not God.

Sorry there D-Dubya... (ack! I said it again)

It was a... pun/failed attempt at killing another thread with irrelevant blabber

Yep, I failed.

I still want the thread to die though.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

What about you people's views on Carbon dating? Spontaneous creation? The workings of mutations? Explain with evidence, no "this is impossible because God did it" or "your god sucks, it's all impossible and scientists know all" If I see any of this, I'll boycott this thread.

Fear me.
