question abt questions(eva) possible spoilers
okay, i'm in college now and returned the eva DVDs back to my friend before going up. now, i suddenly really wanted to know and remember all the questions the characters ask themselves at the last episode, the ones that their conscience asks over and over until the character squeals the truth abt their shortcomings. any hardcore eva fans out there can help me with this?

If You dont mind I have a EVA spoiler question.
At the end of EVA Shinji is choking Asuka. She reached up and caressed his face with her hand in what to me was a loving or tender manner and Shinji stopped choking her.
IIRC Asuka replies "what a disgusting feeling"
I see this meaning a few things. To me Shinji and Asuka fight like a brother and sister (I have two sisters so I have some insight to this). But with most siblings they might fight like cats and dogs but when they are needed they are usually supportive and really love their sibling. My sisters and I would fight and quarrel constantly but if anyone messed with them they had to answer to me.
1) She is disgusted because of all the people she has to be left on earth with why did it have to be with Shinji.
2) IIRC some of Asuka's big issues are no one really loves me and those that do always leave me. I dont want to be emotionally hurt anymore so I am mean to people so no one will get close.
She actually cares for Shinji but feels that if she lets her emotions out she will be vulnerable to getting hurt. She builds up this self image of being the super pilot that doesnt need anyone and is self sufficent in all things.
When she awakens and carreses Shinji's face she realizes that she pities him and cares for him and these new to her emotions disgust her because she realizes she really is human after all. All her attempts to be the cast iron bitch with no emotions has failed.

The gist I get of that is that Asuka is disgusted by Shinji, because Shinji is such a sick asshole, and that she doesn't want to be around him, but Shinji chose for himself to come back from Instrumentality, and Asuka chose to come back. On another note, that was not in the end of the series, but in the End of Evangelion theatrical, which was made with the mentality that it was a "fuck you" to the fans because Anno was constantly threatened and constantly mailed hate mail until he started EoE.

According to the subtitle on Manga's DVD release of EoE, it was 'How disgusting!'.
The actual japanese wording escapes me... but it was something along those lines.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

if you watch the voice over commentary, they talk about that line. it literaly means "feel sick", which they translated into disgusting, becasue that word dosn't actualy exist in the japanese vocabulary, or so they said. the voice over commentary is a very useful tool, i suggest everyoen watch it ... even if it means putting up with the dub and the dub actors talking over it.Otohiko wrote:According to the subtitle on Manga's DVD release of EoE, it was 'How disgusting!'.

I have heard from tiffany grant (the english voice actress for asuka) at a panel at a con last year that the real wording is "I feel sick" and it has no exact meaning. she also said that anno has said in some interviews that this may be to show that after third impact she somehow became pregnet. he also said it may mean many other things. anyone that has seen much from anno should know that he is a very twisted indvidual that like to leave people guessing and coming up with their own endings so the true meaning may never be known if there even is one.

I will show you fear in a handful of dust"
